AEL Novibet — Last 6
AE Kifisia — Last 6

AEL Novibet host AE Kifisia on Wednesday evening, 22 April 2026, in the Stoiximan Super League Relegation Round, with both clubs still trying to drag themselves clear of danger and finish the season with a bit of dignity. This isn’t a glamour tie, but it matters. A lot. For AEL Novibet, 12th place and 23 points tells its own story: they’re hanging around the wrong end of the table and haven’t found a way to turn draws into wins. AE Kifisia are only four points better off in 10th, and while that’s a healthier position, they’re not exactly strolling through the lower-half battle either.

What makes this one hard to call is that both sides arrive with form that’s messy rather than catastrophic. AEL Novibet have been leaking points for weeks, and AE Kifisia have been drawing the line between resilience and bluntness. Their earlier league meetings have already been tight, too. The two clubs drew 1-1 in January and again in August 2025, so there’s a recent pattern here: neither side has been able to impose itself for long.

AEL Novibet Form & Analysis

AEL Novibet’s last few games have been a frustrating ride, and the mood around the club must be flat. They went to Atromitos on 18 April and lost 3-2 in a game that was open, chaotic and ultimately self-defeating. Before that, they were beaten 2-1 at home by Panetolikos, then lost 3-1 away to Asteras Aktor. Go back a little further and there was a 0-0 draw away to Olympiacos, which looked like the start of something steadier. It wasn’t. A home draw with Asteras Aktor and a narrow 1-0 defeat at AEK Athens came before that, and the broader picture is blunt: they’re winless in ten. That’s not a little wobble. That’s a proper rut.

There are reasons they can still make this awkward for Kifisia, though. Savvas Pantelidis’s side aren’t shy in front of goal at home in the sense that they can create chances, even if the finishing and the game management have been miles off. Their home record reads two wins, six draws and five defeats, with 12 goals scored and 21 conceded. That’s a poor return, but it also tells you they rarely get blown away on their own ground. They’re usually in the game. The problem is what happens next. Too often, they don’t land the punch.

The recent underlying numbers from the Atromitos loss add a bit of texture to that. AEL Novibet put up 18 shots, hit the target seven times and produced 1.75 xG, so they weren’t just chasing shadows. They still conceded four big chances and gave up enough the other way to make the result feel deserved. That fits the bigger pattern. They can get into dangerous areas, and they can score — their last five games have all seen them find the net — but they’re far too easy to play through. They’ve also lost the first half in seven of their last eight, which is a worrying habit. Start badly, then chase. It’s a tired script.

AE Kifisia Form & Analysis

AE Kifisia arrive with slightly more stability, though that’s faint praise. Their last six have included a pair of goalless draws, a home defeat to Panserraikos, a heavy loss away to AEK Athens, a home win over Volos, and a narrow defeat at Panetolikos. The most recent outing, a 0-0 draw at home to Asteras Aktor on 18 April, summed them up neatly. They were organised, reasonably solid and never really in control of the game. Two points from their last two matches is fine. Four winless isn’t. And if you’re looking for momentum, Kifisia don’t have much of it.

Still, Sebastián Leto’s side are a touch more secure than AEL Novibet in the table and a touch more balanced across the pitch. They sit 10th with 27 points, having scored 32 and conceded 42 overall. That goal tally is healthier than AEL Novibet’s, and it matters. Their away record, though, tells a more hesitant tale: two wins, five draws and six defeats, with 15 goals scored and 24 conceded on the road. That’s not the profile of a side you trust away from home. They can scrap, they can nick a result, but they’re not convincing travellers.

The last match offered a familiar Kifisia theme: control without bite. They allowed Asteras only three shots and 0.23 xGA, which is tidy enough, but they also created just one big chance and didn’t find a way through. Their away form has followed that same shape too often. They’re tough to break down for spells, yet they don’t press the issue hard enough when the game is there to be won. Can they do it on Wednesday in a tight relegation-round fixture? You wouldn’t rush to say yes.

Head-to-Head

This fixture has been close for a while, and the recent meetings back that up. AE Kifisia hosted AEL Novibet in January and the game finished 1-1. Before that, at AEL Novibet’s ground in August 2025, it ended the same way. There was also a 1-0 home win for AEL Novibet in a Super League 2 Super Cup tie back in May 2025, but the league pattern is the more relevant one here: these teams tend to cancel each other out.

That’s the big takeaway from the head-to-head. AEL Novibet have avoided defeat in the last four meetings, while Kifisia have failed to keep a clean sheet in those same four. It doesn’t scream domination either way. It screams another tight contest, probably decided by one moment, one mistake or one set-piece lapse.

We Predict: Double Chance 1X

We’re backing Double Chance 1X at 1/2 here. AEL Novibet aren’t flying, but they’ve been a pain to beat in this matchup and they’re usually competitive at home even when the result doesn’t go their way. Kifisia’s away record doesn’t inspire much trust either. Two wins from 13 away league games is not the sort of return that scares anyone, and their recent form away from home has been cautious rather than ruthless.

A 1-1 draw feels the likeliest scoreline. That fits the shape of the season for both sides, and it fits the head-to-head too. AEL Novibet have the edge in territory and urgency, Kifisia have just enough structure to stay in the fight, and neither side looks set to run away with it. If you wanted a slightly more adventurous angle, both teams to score has a decent case given AEL Novibet’s recent habit of scoring and conceding in the same game — but the safer route remains 1X.
