Al-Riyadh — Last 6
Al-Qadsiah — Last 6

Al-Riyadh host Al-Qadsiah in the Saudi Pro League on Wednesday evening, 29 April 2026, and the mood around both clubs is very different. For Al-Riyadh, this is about dragging themselves away from trouble. They sit 16th with 23 points, and every point now feels like another step towards safety. Al-Qadsiah arrive with loftier ambitions. Brendan Rodgers’ side are fourth on 62 points, still in the thick of the race for a top finish, and they can’t afford a sloppy night against a team down near the bottom.

It’s the kind of fixture that can trick people. On paper it looks straightforward. In reality, it rarely is. Al-Riyadh have enough bite at home to cause problems, while Al-Qadsiah’s league position hides a defence that’s been opened up often enough to keep opponents interested. There’s also a bit of recent history between them, and it hasn’t always gone the way the hosts would like. Al-Qadsiah hammered Al-Riyadh 4-0 in Riyadh on 4 January, and that result still hangs over this meeting.

The big question is whether Al-Riyadh can turn this into a scrappy, awkward contest. They’ve got the profile of a side that can score in bursts, but they’ve also spent much of the season chasing games. Al-Qadsiah, meanwhile, have enough quality to score twice almost by default, yet they’ve also shown a habit of conceding. That tension is what makes this one worth proper attention.

Al-Riyadh Form & Analysis

Al-Riyadh’s recent form has been messy, but not hopeless. They went to Al-Hazem on 24 April and came away with a 2-1 defeat, a match that had enough warning signs to keep Maurício Dulac busy. Before that, they produced one of their better away days of the season, winning 3-2 at Al-Ettifaq on 9 April after a 1-1 home draw with Al-Shabab. That was the sort of response you want from a side fighting at the wrong end of the table. Then came the odd swing of results that has defined their season: a strong 3-1 home win over Al-Ittihad on 13 March, but also a 3-0 loss at Damac and a narrow 1-0 home defeat to Al-Ahli earlier in March and late February.

That inconsistency is the whole story with Al-Riyadh. They can hurt teams. They’ve scored 30 league goals, which isn’t terrible for a side sitting 16th, and at home they’ve managed 15 goals in 14 games. That’s enough to keep them alive in most matches. But they’ve also shipped 54 goals overall, and that’s a heavy burden. At home, the numbers are a little tighter — 19 conceded in 14 — yet you still get the feeling they’re one bad spell away from losing control. They’ve won three, drawn five and lost six at their own ground. That’s not a disaster, but it’s hardly a platform for comfort either.

What does stand out is that they don’t usually go down without a fight. Their recent home draw with Al-Shabab and the win over Al-Ittihad showed they can live with stronger opposition for spells, and the xG numbers from the Al-Hazem game were decent enough to suggest they created chances even in defeat. But Al-Riyadh have also gone through games where the defensive line has looked soft, and against a side like Al-Qadsiah that can be punished fast. If they leave gaps early, they’ll be chasing shadows. That won’t suit them at all.

Al-Qadsiah Form & Analysis

Al-Qadsiah come in with a much stronger overall record, though their latest results have lost a bit of shine. The 2-2 home draw with Al-Shabab on 14 April was a wild one. They were lively, they created plenty, and they also gave far too much away. Before that, they drew 1-1 at Damac and lost 3-2 at Al-Ettifaq, which means their last three league matches have produced goals but not a victory. Still, you can’t really call that a collapse when the earlier part of their run included a statement 3-2 home win over Al-Ahli and a very convincing 4-1 away victory at Al-Kholood.

That’s the point with Al-Qadsiah: they’ve got punch, and lots of it. Rodgers’ side have scored 67 league goals and conceded only 31, which is the profile of a top-four team for a reason. Away from home they’ve been especially strong, picking up 29 points from 14 trips with nine wins, two draws and three defeats. They’ve scored 32 away goals and conceded 19. That’s a proper away record. Not many sides in the division will enjoy hosting them.

Mind you, they’re not bulletproof. Their recent 2-2 with Al-Shabab came after a frenetic contest in which they allowed eight shots on target and eventually played with ten men after Wesley Hoedt’s red card. The 3-2 defeat at Al-Ettifaq also showed that if the game becomes stretched, they’re not always in control of it. The attack is reliable, but the back line can be dragged into chaos. Can they keep things tidy away to a struggling side with a point to prove? That’s the live issue here. If they can’t, this turns into one of those annoying nights where the favourites have to earn everything.

Head-to-Head

Recent meetings lean clearly towards Al-Qadsiah. They beat Al-Riyadh 4-0 in the reverse fixture on 4 January 2026, and that followed a 1-0 league win on 2 March 2025. Go a little further back and the picture becomes more mixed, with Al-Riyadh edging a 2-1 home win in October 2024 and the sides sharing a draw in the 2022 First Division.

Still, the current pattern matters more than the older stuff. Al-Qadsiah have taken the last two league meetings and have looked the more reliable side overall. Al-Riyadh have also struggled to keep them out, which fits the broader theme of this matchup. It doesn’t scream route one certainty for Rodgers’ team, but it does tilt the psychological edge their way.

We Predict: Both Teams To Score

We’re backing Both Teams To Score at 4/7 for this one. It’s short enough to feel fair, and the match profile points straight at it. Al-Riyadh have scored in enough games to suggest they’ll find a moment, especially at home, while Al-Qadsiah have been scoring for fun for most of the season and have only rarely come away blank. Put simply, both sides have too much attacking threat and too many defensive cracks for this to look like a clean sheet job.

The score call is 1-2 to Al-Qadsiah. That fits the shape of the game. Al-Riyadh should get a chance to land a punch, maybe from a transition or a set piece, but Al-Qadsiah’s quality in the final third should tell over 90 minutes. If you want a slightly bolder angle, Al-Qadsiah to win and both teams to score has a bit of appeal too. But the straight BTTS play is the one that stands out most here.
