Asteras Aktor — Last 6
GFS Panetolikos — Last 6

Asteras Aktor and GFS Panetolikos meet at the wrong end of the Stoiximan Super League table on 22 April 2026, with both clubs deep in the Relegation Round and still trying to put some proper daylight between themselves and trouble. Asteras arrive in 14th place on 17 points, Panetolikos sit 11th on 26, and while that gap looks sizeable enough, this is still the sort of fixture that can drag a side back into a dogfight if it goes wrong. Neither club has much room for comfort. Not now.

There’s also a familiar edge to it. These two have already crossed paths this season, with Panetolikos winning 3-1 in Agrinio in February after Asteras had held them to a draw in Tripoli earlier in the campaign. That pattern matters here because it hints at a contest where margins, not momentum, do the damage. Asteras need a response at home. Panetolikos need to stop last weekend’s setback from becoming a wobble. One good result changes the mood fast in a relegation round. One bad one does the opposite.

Asteras Aktor Form & Analysis

Asteras’ recent run has been steady rather than sparkling, and that’s probably the kindest way to put it. They’ve drawn two on the bounce away from home — 0-0 at AE Kifisia on 18 April and 0-0 at MGS Panserraikos on 8 April — after beating AEL Novibet 3-1 in their last home game on 4 April. Before that, though, the picture was messier: a 2-1 home loss to Panathinaikos FC, a 1-1 draw at AEL Novibet, and a 1-0 home defeat to Panserraikos. They’ve only won once in their last six, but they’ve also lost just twice. That’s a side that’s hard to break down, even if they don’t always look threatening going the other way.

At home, the record is modest enough to explain why they’re still down in 14th: two wins, five draws and six defeats from 13 league matches, with 16 scored and 19 conceded. That’s not the profile of a team that’s going to overwhelm anyone. Still, it isn’t a fortress for visiting sides either. Asteras have enough stubbornness in them to keep games tight, and the recent clean sheets at Kifisia and Panserraikos fit that picture. The problem is the other end. Too often, they’re leaving themselves with one good chance too few.

The xG from the 0-0 at Kifisia summed it up neatly. Asteras managed only 0.23 expected goals, three shots, none on target. That’s a long way from dangerous. The flip side? They kept the game under control defensively, allowing just 0.76 xGA and only one big chance against. Against a Panetolikos side that can be wasteful away from home, that sort of compactness gives them a route into the contest. But if they’re that blunt again, they’ll need another near-perfect defensive display to get anything out of it.

GFS Panetolikos Form & Analysis

Panetolikos come into this off a painful one. Their 3-2 home defeat to MGS Panserraikos on 18 April was a messy affair, especially after they’d built a decent enough platform with a 2-1 away win at AEL Novibet earlier in the month. That victory had followed two straight draws, both 0-0 against Panserraikos and Panathinaikos FC, and a 2-1 home success over AE Kifisia before that. So this isn’t a side in freefall. But the last result matters. They led the game in possession terms, created enough to feel aggrieved, and still lost it anyway. That stings.

The away record is actually decent for a team in the lower half: three wins, four draws and six defeats, with nine goals scored and 15 conceded. Not glamorous. Not flashy. Yet it’s respectable enough to keep them competitive on the road. The catch is obvious. Nine away goals across the whole league season is a skinny return, and it tells you everything about why Panetolikos often end up in close, awkward contests away from Agrinio. They don’t usually travel to dominate. They travel to stay alive in games.

That said, there is a bit more punch in the recent pattern. They scored two at AEL Novibet and two against Panserraikos last weekend, and the xG numbers from that defeat — 0.98 for, 1.45 against — hint at a side that can at least get into promising areas. With 11 shots and seven on target, they weren’t short of effort. The issue was control. Conceding three at home after taking the lead is a worry, especially with Asteras likely to try to turn this into a cagey scrap. Giannis Anastasiou will want more discipline, because if Panetolikos leave gaps, Asteras won’t need asking twice.

Head-to-Head

These two know each other well enough by now, and the recent meetings have leaned slightly in Panetolikos’ direction. The most recent clash came on 14 February 2026, when Panetolikos beat Asteras Aktor 3-1 at home. Before that, the teams drew 1-1 in Tripoli on 22 November 2025. Go back a little further and it becomes a proper seesaw: Asteras won 2-0 at home in January 2025, Panetolikos drew 1-1 away in September 2024, and the sides shared a 2-2 draw in Tripoli in February 2024.

There’s a clear theme there. These meetings are rarely wild, and the games tend to stay compact. Four of the last five have finished under 2.5 goals, which fits the broader feel of the matchup rather well. Asteras have also struggled to keep Panetolikos out in recent meetings, and that 3-1 away win in February still carries weight because it showed Panetolikos can be the more efficient side when chances are limited. This one should be tight again. It usually is.

We Predict: Double Chance X2

We are backing Double Chance X2 at 4/6 for this one. Panetolikos don’t need to win this to justify the bet, and that’s the appeal. They’re sitting seven points ahead of Asteras in the table, their away record is sturdier than the home side’s numbers suggest, and they’ve already beaten Asteras 3-1 this season. That matters. So does Asteras’ lack of firepower at home, where 16 goals in 13 league matches isn’t a total collapse but isn’t far off it either.

The 1-1 correct score fits the feel of the fixture. Asteras have gone three games unbeaten, Panetolikos have the better overall profile, and neither side looks built to run away with it. If this opens up, Panetolikos have the sharper attacking ceiling. If it stays tight, Asteras can grind. That’s why the draw is alive and why X2 is the sensible angle. Under 2.5 goals is the alternative worth a glance too, especially with four of the last five head-to-head meetings landing there.
