Beroe Stara Zagora — Last 6
PFK Montana 1921 — Last 6

Beroe Stara Zagora welcome PFK Montana 1921 on Tuesday evening in the First Professional League relegation round, and both sides arrive with plenty still riding on it. For Beroe, this is about keeping momentum alive and strengthening their grip on safety after a run that has finally started to look convincing. For Montana, the aim is simpler and far more urgent: nick points wherever they can and keep the pressure off as the season drags towards its end.

These meetings rarely need dressing up. There’s edge in the fixture already, and there’s a recent layer too, with Beroe having edged Montana 1-0 in March and then seen the reverse league meeting finish 1-1 back in October. The stakes are clear enough. One side wants to keep climbing away from danger. The other needs a result to stop the mood from souring again.

And this one has the feel of a tight, scrappy game, even if Beroe’s latest home win gave them a bit more swagger. Montana are awkward enough to drag opponents into a fight, while Beroe have just shown they can handle that sort of evening when the mood is right. Goals? Maybe. A thriller? Don’t bank on it.

Beroe Stara Zagora Form & Analysis

Beroe’s recent form has been a proper mixed bag, but the direction of travel is better than it was a few weeks ago. They came through their last home outing in style, beating Slavia Sofia 3-0 on 2 May with an early Juanca Pineda strike, then a second-half goal from Ismael Ferrer, and Facundo Constantini wrapping it up in stoppage time. That was a strong response to the frustration of their 0-0 home draw with Lokomotiv Plovdiv, and it followed a useful 2-1 away win at FK Spartak Varna. Earlier in the spell, they slipped at Lokomotiv Sofia and were brushed aside 3-0 by CSKA Sofia, but the latest two games have steadied them.

That’s the key point here. Beroe are not flawless, and they haven’t exactly been blowing teams away every week, but they’ve found enough control to get results when they matter. In their last six matches they’ve won three, drawn one and lost two, which is decent enough form for a team trying to pull clear of danger. The home side have also scored in their last two league matches, and that matters in a fixture where a blank would feel like a wasted chance. You’d expect them to have more of the ball here. The question is whether they can turn that into a proper cushion.

What helps is that Beroe have already shown they can edge Montana’s way of playing. The recent away win against them was narrow, hard-fought and low-scoring, and that sort of control will matter again. They’re not a side you’d label ruthless. They are, though, capable of getting on top in stretches and doing enough without needing a perfect performance. That’s usually enough in this sort of game.

PFK Montana 1921 Form & Analysis

Montana’s form is stubborn rather than sparkling. Their latest outing, a 1-1 draw away at FK Septemvri Sofia on 1 May, was a decent enough point in isolation. Nicolas Fontaine gave them the lead on 58 minutes, only for Boris Dimitrov’s penalty to drag the match back into level terms. Before that, they beat FK Dobrudzha Dobrich 1-0 at home, which was a tidy result, even if it came after a 0-0 draw with Slavia Sofia and a narrow 1-0 home defeat to CSKA Sofia earlier in April. The overall picture is one of a side that stays in games but rarely takes control of them.

Their away form is the awkward bit. Montana’s recent trip to Arda Kardzhali ended in a 2-1 loss, and while they did score there, they still left empty-handed. That’s been a recurring theme. They can work their way into matches, but turning that into results on the road has been harder. Their last six matches include only one win, two draws and three defeats, which is exactly the sort of run that keeps a relegation-round side on edge. They’re not getting battered every week, but they’re also not stringing together enough clean, complete performances to settle anything down.

There is a bit of resilience in them, though. Drawing away at Septemvri and holding Slavia at home without a goal either way shows they can be awkward to break down. The issue is that they don’t always carry enough punch. That’s the problem that keeps dragging them back. If Beroe score first, Montana will need to open up more than they probably want to. That tends to make them vulnerable.

Head-to-Head

Beroe have had the better of this fixture more often than not, and the recent meetings lean the same way. Their 1-0 away win at Montana on 22 March was a clean, efficient job, and the 1-1 draw in Stara Zagora last October was the sort of game that usually leaves the stronger side annoyed not to have taken all three points.

Go back a bit further and there’s a pattern of Beroe getting on top. They’ve also beaten Montana 3-0 and 2-1 in earlier league meetings, while Montana haven’t managed to string together a convincing recent answer. That won’t decide Tuesday’s match on its own. Still, it does reinforce the sense that Beroe have found this opponent more manageable than most.

We Predict: Both Teams To Score

We’re backing Both Teams To Score at 1/1 for this one. If you want to dig a bit deeper here, the accumulator tips page pulls together accumulator tips if you want to turn similar reads into a stronger combo ticket. It’s not a wild call. Beroe arrive off a 3-0 home win and have scored in their last two league matches, while Montana have found the net in their last two as well, including the 1-1 at Septemvri. Both sides have enough to nick a goal, and neither looks solid enough to keep a completely clean lid on the contest for 90 minutes.

The lean scoreline is 1-1, which fits the mood of the fixture and the recent meetings. Beroe are the better side and should have more control, but Montana have shown enough graft to stay alive in games like this. If you want a slightly more conservative angle, Beroe in the double chance market would have appeal, but BTTS feels the sharper play given how both teams have been finishing their recent matches.
