Estoril Praia — Last 6
Famalicão — Last 6

Estoril Praia host Famalicão in the Liga Portugal Betclic on Sunday evening, 26 April 2026, with both sides looking to finish the season on a strong note for very different reasons. Estoril sit 9th on 37 points and are still trying to steady themselves after a rough spell, while Famalicão arrive in 5th on 48 points and with Europe very much in sight. That gap in the table matters. So does the mood around the two camps.

For Estoril, this is about stopping the slide and protecting a respectable mid-table position from turning into something sloppier. They’ve scored 51 and conceded 51 across the season, which tells you exactly what kind of side they’ve been: entertaining, open, and far too easy to rattle. Famalicão, by contrast, have the look of a team that knows how to get results without needing to overwhelm you every week. Their numbers are tighter at the back, and they’ve built a solid enough away record to travel with confidence. The question is whether that control holds up against an Estoril side that usually makes life messy at home.

There’s also the context of the recent meeting history, which is hard to ignore. Famalicão beat Estoril 4-0 in December and 3-0 in April 2025, and they’ve had the better of this fixture for a while. But Estoril have a strong home profile, and this one doesn’t feel like a walkover. It feels more like a game where both attacks can get their moments. That’s the key.

Estoril Praia Form & Analysis

Estoril’s last month has been a grim little run, and there’s no dressing it up. They lost 1-0 away to Moreirense on 20 April, after already falling 1-3 at home to FC Porto, 3-2 away to Arouca and 1-2 at home to Rio Ave. Before that, they had nicked a 1-0 win at CD Nacional and drawn 0-0 with Casa Pia, but that feels like a different version of this team now. Four defeats in a row is the headline, and it’s not a comfortable one. They’ve been undone in different ways too. Some days they’ve looked blunt. Other days they’ve simply been too loose.

The trip to Moreirense summed it up neatly. Estoril only managed four shots and one on target, with an xG of 0.36. That’s a tiny return. They weren’t carved open repeatedly, but they didn’t create much of anything either. That’s the concern with Ian Cathro’s side right now: the structure can hold for spells, yet the balance between control and threat isn’t there often enough. You can survive a flat attacking afternoon now and then. Four in a row? Not so much. Still, they’ve managed 51 goals this season, so this isn’t a side short of ideas overall. The problem is consistency, not imagination.

At home, Estoril’s record is sturdier than their recent results suggest. They’ve taken 23 points from 15 home matches, with six wins, five draws and four defeats, scoring 28 and conceding 22. That’s a decent base. They’re usually good for a goal or two in front of their own crowd, and the defensive record isn’t disastrous either. Mind you, the trend lines are a bit messy. They’ve now gone four matches without a win, and they’ve also failed to keep a clean sheet in four straight league games. That’s not the sort of rhythm you want when Famalicão are coming to town. Estoril can certainly score at home, but they rarely keep things tidy for long.

Famalicão Form & Analysis

Famalicão’s recent run has been the opposite of Estoril’s. It’s not all clean wins and slick football, but it’s been steady, stubborn and very hard to break. Their last six league matches have brought a 2-2 draw away to Sporting Braga, a 1-1 draw at home to Moreirense, another 2-2 draw away to FC Porto, then a 1-0 win over CD Nacional, a 2-1 away win at Vitória SC and a 1-0 home victory over Arouca. That’s the story of a team that keeps finding a way to stay upright. Three wins, three draws, no defeats. You don’t fluke that for long.

The draw at Braga on 19 April was probably the most revealing of the lot. Famalicão weren’t overrun; they were efficient when they needed to be and stayed in the game right to the end. Their xG was only 0.51, which tells you they weren’t spraying chances everywhere, but they still came away with a point. That’s a trait worth trusting. Hugo Oliveira’s side know how to stay in matches, and they’ve got enough structure to make the most of limited possession. They’re not the flashiest top-half side in the league. They don’t need to be. They’re organised, awkward and difficult to shake off.

Away from home, Famalicão have been respectable rather than spectacular, but that’s enough to matter here. They’ve collected 21 points on the road, with five wins, six draws and four defeats, scoring 14 and conceding 17. That doesn’t scream relentless attacking threat. It does suggest a side that travels well enough to compete. The bigger point is that they’ve stayed unbeaten in their last eight league matches overall. That sort of run changes the psychology of a fixture. Can they keep it up on the road? On this evidence, yes. Their away profile leans to control, not chaos, and that fits a match at Estoril more than people might think. The one caution is that they’ve also gone three games without a win, so the momentum is a little less punchy than the unbeaten stretch sounds. Still, they’re not losing, and that counts for plenty.

Head-to-Head

This fixture has leaned Famalicão’s way more often than not. They’ve won three of the last five meetings, including a 4-0 home victory in December 2025 and a 3-0 league win in April 2025. Estoril did edge the same league fixture 2-1 in December 2024, so it’s not total dominance, but the more recent pattern is pretty clear. Famalicão have looked the sharper, more ruthless side when these two meet.

Goals have also been a feature. Four of the last five head-to-heads have gone over 2.5, and that matters when you look at Estoril’s home record and Famalicão’s tendency to score away from home without exactly shutting games down. Estoril have also gone four head-to-heads without keeping a clean sheet against this opponent. That’s a nasty little trend for the hosts. Famalicão know how to hurt them.

We Predict: Both Teams To Score

Both Teams To Score at 4/7 looks the cleanest call here. It’s short enough to respect the market, but there’s real substance behind it. Estoril have scored 28 at home this season and generally get something going in front of their own fans. Famalicão, for their part, have found the net in enough difficult away matches to suggest they won’t be blanked lightly. You’re not asking for a shootout. Just one goal each feels the right read.

The 1-1 correct score fits the shape of this game. Estoril’s home numbers say they can compete, but their recent defensive wobble makes a clean sheet feel unlikely. Famalicão’s unbeaten run and better league position suggest they’ve got enough control to avoid defeat, yet their away scoring record isn’t strong enough to inspire a broad handicap play. BTTS lands in the middle. That’s where the value is. If you want a small alternative, Famalicão on the double chance market has a fair case too, but the stronger angle is both sides finding the net.
