FC Alverca — Last 6
FC Arouca — Last 6

FC Alverca host FC Arouca in the Liga Portugal Betclic on Friday evening, 24 April 2026, with both sides locked on 35 points and sitting just outside the more comfortable middle ground of the table. It’s 10th against 11th, and while neither club is staring at the abyss, there’s still plenty riding on this one. A win here pushes a side away from the scrap and gives the spring run-in a bit of breathing room. A defeat, on the other hand, drags the loser straight back into a messy finish.

This isn’t a glamorous fixture, but it matters. Alverca have spent the campaign trying to make home games count, while Arouca arrive with a slightly better goal return and a worse defensive record. That contrast alone gives the game a sharp edge. Both teams can score. Both can leak chances. That usually means you don’t get a cagey evening for long.

The first meeting between them this season went Arouca’s way, a 1-0 home win on 14 December 2025. That result matters here because it hints at the thin margins between the sides. There’s not much between them on the table, and not much between them on current momentum either. Small details should decide this.

FC Alverca Form & Analysis

Alverca’s recent form has been a proper mixed bag, and their last six league games tell the story of a side that can look sharp one week and loose the next. They beat Casa Pia 3-1 at home on 12 April, which was a strong response after the 4-1 home loss to Sporting CP. Before that, they had shown some resilience in away games, beating Rio Ave 2-1 and drawing 2-2 at Gil Vicente. The frustrating part is that they’ve also had nights where the attack simply vanished, most recently in the 1-0 defeat at CD Nacional. One goal, then nothing. That’s the issue in a sentence.

At home, Custódio’s side have been decent without being dominant. Their league record at this ground reads six wins, four draws and five defeats, with 15 goals scored and 21 conceded. That’s not disastrous, but it’s hardly the kind of home profile that scares visiting teams. Alverca have shown they can raise themselves here — the Casa Pia win proves that — yet the defensive record tells you they’re rarely controlling matches for 90 minutes. They’ve also gone five league games without keeping a clean sheet, and that feels important going into a game like this. If you’re not shutting teams out, you need to keep scoring. They haven’t always done that either.

Still, there’s a useful edge to Alverca’s play. They’ve been involved in open matches and, more often than not, they do create enough to land a punch. The xG story from the Nacional loss was less encouraging, with just 0.36 generated and no big chances at all, but that felt more like a bad away day than a broader collapse. At home, they’re usually a little brighter and a little braver. The concern is that their balance doesn’t hold when opponents keep the pressure on. Sporting exposed that. So did Nacional in a quieter way. If Arouca push them back, Alverca will need to defend much better than they’ve managed recently.

FC Arouca Form & Analysis

Arouca come into this on the back of a narrow but useful 1-0 win over CF Estrela Amadora, and they’ve had a few of those tight, high-wire games in recent weeks. They beat Estoril Praia 3-2 at home, which tells you they’re capable of going through the gears when the game opens up. They also won away at Moreirense 1-0, a result that stands out because it showed some control on the road. The flip side? Defeats away to Sporting Braga and Famalicão, both by a single goal, plus the 2-1 home loss to Benfica. Arouca aren’t getting blown away, but they’re rarely comfortable either. It’s a side living on fine margins.

The away record is a big part of why this trip doesn’t feel straightforward for them, despite the stronger attacking numbers on the season. On the road, Arouca have four wins, two draws and nine defeats, with 16 goals scored and 31 conceded. That’s a grim defensive return. They’ve lost nine of 15 away league matches and shipped more than two goals per game across that sample. That sort of record won’t inspire confidence if the match turns scrappy. Mind you, they’ve still shown enough attacking life to keep themselves in games. They’re not dead away from home — far from it — but they don’t travel with much safety net.

What does stand out is their ability to stay in contestable scorelines. Against Estrela, they won despite conceding chances of their own. In the 3-2 win over Estoril, they kept going when the game got wild. Even in defeat at Braga, they were not overwhelmed in the way the scoreline might suggest. Their underlying numbers from the most recent home win — 1.76 xG created and 1.36 conceded — are a reminder that they’re willing to play on the front foot. That’s useful here because Alverca don’t exactly strangle teams. Still, Arouca’s away defence remains the warning sign. If they concede first, they’ve got a habit of making things messy.

Head-to-Head

There’s only one recent meeting to work with, and it went Arouca’s way. Back on 14 December 2025, they beat Alverca 1-0 at home in Liga Portugal Betclic. It wasn’t a thriller, but it did show how narrow the gap is between the two. One moment, one goal, that was enough.

That result doesn’t create a huge psychological edge, but it does hint at a pattern. These teams don’t look miles apart in quality, and when that happens the team with the slightly steadier road behaviour often gets the nod. Arouca were the more efficient side in the first meeting. They’ll fancy doing enough again.

We Predict: Double Chance X2

We are backing Double Chance X2 at 4/7 for this one. It’s not a flashy call, but it’s the right one. Arouca have the more convincing attacking return over the season, and Alverca’s home record is respectable rather than commanding. When you add in Arouca’s ability to nick results on the road — Moreirense away was the best example — the visitors look a touch sturdier for this market.

The predicted scoreline is 1-2. That fits the shape of both teams: Alverca have enough going forward to make life awkward, but they’ve been too open at the back to trust fully. Arouca, for all their away issues, have the extra goal threat and the sharper final-third edge. If you wanted an alternative angle, Both Teams to Score is live too, especially with Alverca’s run of matches and Arouca’s habit of playing in games that don’t stay quiet for long. But X2 is the cleaner play.
