FC Dallas — Last 6
Vancouver Whitecaps — Last 6

FC Dallas host Vancouver Whitecaps on Thursday morning, 14 May 2026, in an MLS meeting that matters for both ends of the table. Dallas sit 10th in the overall standings on 19 points, which leaves them in that awkward middle ground where a couple of good weeks can change the picture fast, but a bad run drags them back into the pack just as quickly. Vancouver, by contrast, are up in second with 26 points and have spent much of the spring looking like a proper title-side.

It’s not a knockout tie or a trophy final, but the stakes are still real. FC Dallas need to keep building a run that can turn their season from merely competitive into something more convincing. Vancouver are chasing top-place momentum and don’t want to waste a strong start with sloppy away points. That road record is the one wrinkle. More on that in a moment.

There’s also a familiar feel to this one. These two have produced goals, odd scorelines and a fair bit of drama in recent meetings, and the Whitecaps arrive with the better league position but with only one away win on the board. Dallas, for their part, have been much more stubborn at home. That makes this far less straightforward than the table might suggest.

FC Dallas Form & Analysis

FC Dallas come into this off the back of a morale-boosting 3-1 home win over Real Salt Lake on 10 May, and it was the sort of result that can settle a dressing room down. They were sharp early, got goals from Santiago Moreno and Kaick, and then finished the job late through Diego Luna and Sam Sarver. The performance had a bit of everything: a decent defensive base, some direct threat, and enough control to stop the game drifting away from them.

That win was badly needed because the weeks before it were much less tidy. Dallas lost 2-1 away to Seattle Sounders, then dropped a frustrating home game 1-0 to Minnesota United after drawing 2-2 with LA Galaxy and 1-1 with St. Louis City. Strip it down and the story is simple enough: they’ve been capable of competing with anyone, but they haven’t always turned decent spells into results. The 2-0 win at New York Red Bulls on 3 May showed what they can do away from home when their structure holds. Still, two home draws and two home defeats in the six-game spell before Real Salt Lake left them looking a touch unreliable.

At Toyota Stadium, though, they’ve been a fair bit sturdier than their overall position suggests. Dallas are 7th in the home table with 13 points, and their record there reads three wins, four draws and one defeat, with 16 goals scored and 13 conceded. That’s not elite defending, but it’s enough to keep them in games. They’ve also scored in most of their home fixtures, and there’s a useful little trend here: FC Dallas have been first to score in six of their last eight league matches. That matters against a Vancouver side who usually impose themselves early. If Dallas can land the first punch, the contest changes.

The flip side? They’ve still only kept one clean sheet in that home set, and that’s the warning sign. You can see it in the numbers and you can feel it in the results. Dallas are rarely shut out, but they’re rarely airtight either. That’s not a great combination when the league’s second-best side comes calling.

Vancouver Whitecaps Form & Analysis

Vancouver arrive in Texas with a longer unbeaten run than Dallas and, on paper, the more imposing season so far. Their most recent outing was a 1-1 draw away to San Jose Earthquakes on 10 May, and while they didn’t win, they did enough to avoid damage on the road. Preston Judd gave them an early lead and Sebastian Berhalter later restored parity after San Jose had dragged them into a game. It was neat, efficient, and not a bad away point at all.

That result extended a solid stretch. Before that, Vancouver drew 1-1 away at LA Galaxy, beat Colorado Rapids 3-1 at home, crushed Sporting Kansas City 3-0, and saw off New York City FC 2-0. You’d like to see more wins away from home, and we’ll get to that, but the broader picture is strong. They’ve lost only once in their last six, and that defeat came all the way back on 22 March against San Jose. Since then, they’ve gone five games unbeaten. That’s the kind of run that builds quiet confidence.

The away numbers are the one area where the shine dulls a little. Vancouver’s road record is 13th in the league, with just five points from their away matches, and their split reads one win, two draws and no defeats, plus six goals scored and three conceded. That’s a small sample and it hasn’t been disastrous, but it does hint at a side that can be controlled away from home. They’ve drawn both of their last two on the road, which says plenty. The Whitecaps don’t wilt away from home, but they haven’t been cutting opponents open either.

Still, there’s plenty to like about their overall balance. Vancouver have scored 27 league goals and conceded only seven, which is a ridiculous defensive return by MLS standards. The home-away split tells the full story: they’ve been much more destructive at home than on the road, but they’ve also been difficult to beat anywhere. That’s why they’re sitting second. They don’t need to dominate every game to stay at the front end of the race. They just need to keep collecting.

Head-to-Head

Recent meetings between these two have been lively, and that’s putting it mildly. Vancouver beat FC Dallas 5-3 in Texas on 2 November 2025, then followed it up with a 3-0 home win on 26 October. Dallas did edge the Whitecaps 2-1 in Vancouver on 19 October 2025, which shows there’s no one-way street here, but the overall recent pattern leans toward goals and momentum swings rather than cagey football.

Go a little further back and the picture is still fairly open. Vancouver beat Dallas 1-0 in March 2025, the teams drew 0-0 in Vancouver in September 2024, and the Whitecaps were again the stronger side in March 2024 with a 3-1 win. Dallas did take a 2-1 home victory in May 2023, and there was a 1-1 draw in Vancouver earlier that year. This fixture has rarely been dull. That’s the cleanest way to put it.

We Predict: Both Teams To Score

We’re backing Both Teams To Score at 1/2 here. For more context beyond this pick, see our single tips page, which pulls together single tips if you prefer cleaner one-bet angles over combinations. It’s short, yes, but it still looks the sharpest angle for this match. FC Dallas have scored in most of their home games and have been first on the board in six of their last eight league fixtures, while Vancouver have found the net in five straight league matches and have only failed to score once since late March. Neither side looks like going quietly.

The 1-1 correct score feels the best fit. Dallas are good enough at home to land a goal, and Vancouver’s overall control should keep them in the contest long enough to nick one themselves. The tension is obvious: Vancouver’s away returns are modest, and that stops us from getting carried away on their win chances. But on the BTTS market, that’s fine. Dallas don’t keep enough clean sheets, and the Whitecaps don’t look like a side who’ll be blanked for 90 minutes here. An alternative is over 2.5 goals, but BTTS is the cleaner play.
