FC Metaloglobus București — Last 6
AFC Unirea 04 Slobozia — Last 6

FC Metaloglobus București welcome AFC Unirea 04 Slobozia to Bucharest on Monday evening with both sides locked into a SuperLiga relegation-round scrap that still has plenty riding on it. There’s no glamour here, just pressure. Points now matter more than performances, and every mistake feels heavier than the last.

For Metaloglobus, this is about stopping the slide and dragging themselves clear of a worrying run. For Unirea, it’s a chance to steady themselves after a couple of rough outings and keep their away-day momentum from disappearing entirely. Neither side has the luxury of easing up. One win can change the mood fast in this part of the season.

The journey to this point has been messy for both. Metaloglobus have had flashes — the 1-0 home win over Petrolul, the goalless draw away at FCSB — but they’ve also been hit hard, especially in recent away trips. Unirea have been more erratic still, mixing sharp attacking bursts with defensive collapses. Their last meeting at this ground ended 3-2 to the visitors in December, and that feels like the kind of game this fixture keeps producing. Goals, tension, and not much margin for error.

FC Metaloglobus București Form & Analysis

Metaloglobus arrive here with little momentum and even less comfort. Their last six league games tell a pretty jagged story: a 3-2 defeat away to FC Botoșani, a 1-0 home loss to FK Csíkszereda Miercurea Ciuc, a brutal 5-1 hammering at UTA Arad, then that tidy 1-0 win over Petrolul Ploiești, followed by a 0-0 at FCSB and a 2-2 draw with UTA on home soil before the latest setback in Botoșani. Three defeats in a row before the Petrolul win, then no victory since. That’s not the sort of form that breeds confidence.

Still, they’re not a side without fight. The trip to Botoșani was wide open, full of chances at both ends, and they didn’t fold even when the game kept turning against them. Florin Purece scored early, Hervin Ongenda got on the scoresheet, and they kept pushing all the way until Stefan Visic’s stoppage-time goal. That tells you they can create chances. It also tells you they can be torn open far too easily. Their recent xG line is a reminder of the same thing: they generated 1.50 at Botoșani, but conceded 1.96. Against UTA, the defensive damage was even worse. Six goals conceded across those two away games. Ouch.

At home, though the sample is limited in the data provided, there’s at least some evidence that Metaloglobus can make life awkward. They beat Petrolul 1-0 and held UTA to a 2-2 draw at their own ground. They also lost 1-0 to Csíkszereda, so it’s not as if home turf has been a fortress. The bigger issue is that they’ve gone three matches without a clean sheet, and that’s been the story for a while. If they’re conceding first again here, they’ll be chasing the game — and that’s exactly where the gaps tend to open.

The broader home-vs-away benchmark also leans toward a fairly open match. Home sides in this league are averaging more goals, more shots, and more big chances than away teams, and Metaloglobus have been the kind of side that can contribute to that kind of game. The problem is simple. They need control, and they haven’t had much of it lately. That won’t be easy against a team who like to play on the front foot.

AFC Unirea 04 Slobozia Form & Analysis

Unirea’s recent run looks a touch healthier on the surface, but it’s not exactly calm either. They’ve taken four points from a possible twelve in their last four league outings, losing 3-2 away to Csíkszereda, then 2-1 at home to Petrolul, before beating Farul 1-0 away and Oțelul 2-1 at home. The latest defeat in Miercurea Ciuc was another wild one. Six goals, chances everywhere, and plenty of attacking threat — but no defensive discipline when it mattered.

That’s been the theme with Unirea. They’re capable of scoring in bunches, especially when games open up, but they rarely keep things tidy for long. Their last six have included five matches with more than 2.5 goals, and they’ve scored in five of those six as well. You can see the appeal if you’re looking at a BTTS market. They don’t sit in and survive; they go at teams, sometimes to their own detriment. Claudiu Niculescu’s side have enough punch to make the trip to Bucharest uncomfortable for the hosts, but they’ve also made a habit of leaving the door open.

Away from home, Unirea have shown a split personality. The 1-0 win at Farul was excellent, no doubt about it, and the 0-0 draw at Argeș earlier in March was another solid result on the road. But the defeats at Botoșani and Csíkszereda were both matches where they conceded far too much and spent too long under pressure. Their recent away xG at Csíkszereda was 2.36, which sounds encouraging until you see the 3.51 they allowed at the other end. That’s a basketball scoreline waiting to happen. They’re lively, but they’re not especially secure.

That said, Unirea’s attacking numbers make them dangerous in any match that doesn’t stay cagey. They created four big chances at Csíkszereda and still found the net twice. They scored twice in the loss at Botoșani too. So even when they’re beaten, they’re usually in the conversation. Can they do the same here? Absolutely. Can they keep Metaloglobus quiet for 90 minutes? Much less likely.

Head-to-Head

This fixture has leaned Unirea’s way in recent years, and not by a small margin. They beat Metaloglobus 3-2 at this ground in December, then won 2-1 at home in August. Go back a little further and the pattern is the same: Unirea have regularly found a way to edge this matchup, while Metaloglobus have often been left chasing it.

The meetings tend to carry goals as well. Four of the last five have gone over 2.5 goals, and both teams have scored in four of the last five too. That fits the shape of the contest perfectly. These sides don’t really do sterile, low-event football when they meet. There’s usually action at both ends, and usually one defence gives way before the other.

We Predict: Both Teams To Score

We’re backing Both Teams To Score at 5/6 for this one. It’s the cleanest angle on the board. Metaloglobus have now gone three games without a clean sheet, while Unirea have scored in five of their last six and have been involved in a string of open, chance-heavy matches. Neither side looks remotely watertight. That’s the simple truth.

The head-to-head picture fits too, with BTTS landing in four of the last five meetings. Add in the way both teams have been conceding soft goals lately, and a 1-1 draw looks the likeliest scoreline. It wouldn’t surprise anyone if this opened up and drifted toward a 2-1 either way, but the safer read is that both attacks get their moment and neither defence holds out for long.

If you want a slightly bolder angle, over 2.5 goals has plenty going for it as well. These two have made a habit of turning games into a scrap, and there’s enough attacking intent on both sides to keep the goal count honest.
