FCSB — Last 6
AFC Unirea 04 Slobozia — Last 6

FCSB welcome AFC Unirea 04 Slobozia to Bucharest on Monday evening in the SuperLiga relegation round, with the pressure points very different but the stakes still obvious for both sides. For FCSB, this is about keeping momentum alive in a section of the season where every home win can steady a wobble or sharpen a push. For Slobozia, it’s another chance to drag themselves away from danger and prove that the late-season fight is still there.

The context matters. The relegation round has a way of stripping matches down to their basics, and these two have already spent enough time in that kind of game. FCSB arrive having mixed a strong attacking spell with the odd stumble, while Slobozia have been scrapping for points in bruising, open games. That usually means goals. And with both sides showing fragile defensive moments in recent weeks, it’s hard not to see another lively night.

FCSB Form & Analysis

FCSB’s recent run has been all about extremes. They beat Petrolul Ploiești 3-1 at home, won 3-2 away at Farul Constanța, and thumped Oțelul Galați 4-0 on their own pitch. Those are the sort of results that make a side look dangerous going forward, and for long stretches they’ve looked exactly that. Yet there’s been a sharper edge to the last couple of away trips. They lost 3-2 at Botoșani, then suffered a 1-0 defeat at FK Csíkszereda Miercurea Ciuc on 1 May, with Attila Csűrös striking late in the 87th minute. That one stung. It was a match FCSB controlled in some areas — 22 shots to 12, four on target to three — but they couldn’t turn that volume into anything useful.

At home, though, they’ve been far more convincing. Their recent wins over Petrolul, Oțelul and UTA Arad show a team that can press, settle into attacking rhythm and put opponents away once they get on the front foot. Even in defeat away from home, the numbers haven’t been hopeless. The loss at Csíkszereda came with 1.21 xG and only 0.68 xGA, so this isn’t a side being carved open every week. The problem is concentration. They can look comfortable for long spells and still leave the door ajar. That won’t do against a team that keeps finding ways to nick moments.

There is still a clear attacking identity here. FCSB have scored in bursts and they’ve gone over 2.5 goals in four of their last five, which tells you enough about their mood and about the type of games they’re being dragged into. Lucian Filip’s side don’t seem interested in grinding through dull one-goal affairs if they can avoid it. They’d rather take the game forward. The flip side? They’ve now gone three straight matches without a clean sheet, and that’s the sort of detail that makes any total-goals market look more attractive than a clean result play.

AFC Unirea 04 Slobozia Form & Analysis

Slobozia come into this with a very different profile, but not a quieter one. Their last six matches have been a proper rollercoaster: a 2-1 win over Oțelul Galați, a 1-0 away success at Farul Constanța, then a pair of defeats against Petrolul and Csíkszereda, before back-to-back draws with Metaloglobus București and Hermannstadt. That home draw with Hermannstadt on 4 May was especially frantic. It finished 2-2 after a game packed with moments — early goals, penalties, a late equaliser, and enough VAR interruptions to keep everyone on edge. Slobozia led, trailed, and then rescued a point deep into stoppage time through Marko Gjorgjievski. That’s a useful habit in a relegation fight. It also says plenty about how open their games have become.

Claudiu Niculescu’s side have not been easy to shut out, but they haven’t been easy to trust either. They’ve gone four matches without a win, and the clean-sheet issue is starting to stick. Their away form, though, gives them a puncher’s chance. The 1-0 win at Farul was a proper away-day scalp, and the 1-1 draw at Metaloglobus showed they can stay in a contest even when they aren’t in control. Still, the loss at Csíkszereda, where they went down 3-2, hinted at the same soft centre that keeps hurting them. They can score. That’s not the problem. The issue is whether they can protect a lead or even hold a draw when pressure starts to build.

The underlying shape of their matches is hard to ignore. Slobozia have been involved in a steady stream of high-event games, and the recent 2-2 with Hermannstadt was a perfect example: 1.31 xG generated, 1.85 conceded, and a shot count that tilted 22-9 against them. They weren’t run off the pitch, but they were living dangerously. You’d expect them to have chances here too. They’ve scored in seven of their last eight in the broader run, and that’s exactly why the goals angle has such obvious appeal. They don’t need dominance to get on the board. They just need a window.

Head-to-Head

Recent meetings lean FCSB’s way, but there’s a small wrinkle that keeps this from being one-way traffic. Slobozia beat FCSB 1-0 in Bucharest on 10 August 2025, which will still sit in the memory of both camps. FCSB answered that in December with a 2-0 away win, and they’ve also had a 3-0 home victory over Slobozia in November 2024. The very first clash listed here, back in July 2024, ended 2-2. So while FCSB have had the better of the more recent meetings, this fixture hasn’t always been as straightforward as the name value suggests.

That said, the pattern still points to goals and pressure. Four of the last five meetings across this sample produced at least two goals, and the most recent pair weren’t cagey either. Slobozia have shown they can make this awkward. They’ve also shown they can be broken. That’s the tension in the game.

We Predict: Over 2.5 Goals

We’re backing Over 2.5 Goals at 1/2 for this one. For more context beyond this pick, see our Bet365 review, which covers the main Bet365 strengths and drawbacks before you decide whether it fits the kind of bets you place. It’s short, but it still looks the strongest play. FCSB have gone over in four of their last five, and Slobozia have been involved in plenty of open games themselves, including that wild 2-2 with Hermannstadt and the 3-2 defeat at Csíkszereda. Neither side has looked remotely bulletproof at the back. Not lately.

The projected 2-1 scoreline fits the shape of the contest. FCSB should have enough quality and enough volume at home to score twice, but Slobozia are good for a goal too — especially with their habit of finding a way into games even when they’re under pressure. A 2-1 home win feels about right. If you want a little more risk, FCSB to win and both teams to score is the natural alternative, but the total-goals angle is cleaner and safer for this fixture.
