Fiorentina — Last 6
Genoa — Last 6

Fiorentina host Genoa at the Artemio Franchi on Sunday 10 May 2026 in a Serie A meeting that matters far more than the table position might suggest at first glance. This is 15th against 14th, but the gap is only three points and both clubs are still staring at a messy finish to the season rather than any kind of comfort zone. Fiorentina are on 37 points, Genoa on 40, and neither side has quite done enough to feel safe.

For Fiorentina, there’s a need to steady the ship after a heavy 4-0 defeat away to Roma last time out. Paolo Vanoli’s side have also had to balance league duty with a Conference League knockout run, which has brought some good nights but also some fatigue and inconsistency. Genoa arrive with Daniele De Rossi trying to drag a patchy campaign over the line, and a point here would keep them clear of danger while denting a rival’s hopes of climbing away from the lower half.

The recent history between these clubs adds a little bite. Fiorentina have not lost any of their last 10 meetings with Genoa, and the match-up has regularly produced goals and frustration in equal measure. That said, neither side comes into this one in sparkling nick. This is more about who can handle the pressure, and who blinks first.

Fiorentina Form & Analysis

Fiorentina’s recent run has been messy rather than catastrophic. They held Sassuolo to a goalless draw at home, came from a more open game to draw 1-1 away at Lecce, and then found a lift in Europe by beating Crystal Palace 2-1 in Florence. A 1-0 home win over Lazio followed, which looked like a decent turning point. Then came the crash back down. The 4-0 defeat at Roma on 4 May was ugly from start to finish, with Fiorentina badly outplayed, badly outshot, and never really in the contest. That one hurt.

It’s not just the scoreline. The underlying numbers from that Roma match were grim: 0.13 expected goals, only four shots, and one on target. They were chasing shadows. In the league overall, Fiorentina have won only eight of 35, drawn 13 and lost 14, which tells you plenty about their season. At home, though, they’ve at least been stubborn enough to stay competitive. Their record at the Artemio Franchi stands at four wins, seven draws and six defeats, with 20 goals scored and 20 conceded. That’s not inspiring, but it does explain why they haven’t been easy to sweep aside in Florence.

The bigger issue is rhythm. Vanoli’s side haven’t won in their last three league matches, and while they’ve scored in enough games to keep this fixture alive, they’ve also been too soft when opponents start turning the screw. Still, they rarely collapse at home. One goal is usually there for them. The question is whether they can stop giving one away at the other end.

Genoa Form & Analysis

Genoa come in with a slightly different mood. Their 0-0 draw at Atalanta on 2 May was a proper road result, the sort that gives a team something to lean on. They didn’t dominate, far from it, but they dug in, kept the game tight and left Bergamo with a point. Before that, though, the picture was far less tidy. A home defeat to Como ended a decent spell, and the 2-1 win at Pisa on 19 April remains their last victory. Since then it’s been a draw and a loss, which is about right for a side that has spent much of the season drifting between resilience and frustration.

The recent away form is at least respectable. Genoa have four wins, six draws and seven defeats on the road, with 19 scored and 24 conceded. That’s not a record built on control, but it does show they’re capable of nicking something when they travel. De Rossi’s team have also shown they can score away from home. They did it in the 2-1 win at Pisa, and they’ve put the ball in the net in enough away fixtures to make this trip to Florence feel dangerous for Fiorentina’s defence. The flip side? They’re not solid enough to trust fully. Far from it.

Genoa’s broader league numbers say much the same thing. Ten wins, 10 draws and 15 defeats leaves them on 40 points, only a little ahead of Fiorentina, and their goal difference of 40 scored and 48 conceded is hardly the mark of a team in control of matches. They can be awkward, they can be hard to beat on their day, and they’ve shown enough grit to stay in games. But clean sheets have been hard to come by, and away from home they often end up in scrappy, open contests where one mistake changes everything. That’s the risk here. One lapse and they’re chasing it.

Head-to-Head

Fiorentina’s dominance in this fixture is hard to ignore. They’ve gone 10 meetings without losing to Genoa, and the recent results tell a familiar story: 2-2 in Genoa in November 2025, Fiorentina winning 2-1 at home in February 2025, and a 1-0 away victory for the Viola in October 2024. You have to go back further for the really heavy one-sided results, but the current trend is clear enough. Fiorentina don’t tend to lose this match-up.

There’s also a pattern of both sides contributing. Four of the last five meetings have seen both teams score, which fits the way these clubs have been defending this season. Genoa haven’t kept a clean sheet against Fiorentina in nine straight clashes, and this one has the feel of another game where each defence gives the other a chance. Tight enough to be tense. Open enough to land goals.

We Predict: Both Teams To Score

We’re backing Both Teams To Score at 10/11 here, and it looks a fair price for a fixture that keeps pointing in the same direction. If you want a few more angles around single tips, our single tips page pulls together single tips if you prefer cleaner one-bet angles over combinations. Fiorentina have the home habit of finding a goal, Genoa have enough away threat to ask questions, and neither side looks watertight enough to keep the other out for 90 minutes. That 1.3 to 1.1 xG projection feels about right too. Neither side is projected to run riot. Both are projected to have chances. That’s enough for BTTS.

The 1-1 correct score fits the shape of the game nicely. Fiorentina should have enough territorial edge at home to get on the board, but Genoa’s away record and recent draw at Atalanta suggest they won’t fold. At the same time, neither attack screams a comfortable over-the-top scoreline. If you want a cleaner angle, Fiorentina to score first has some appeal given their strong historical edge in the fixture, but BTTS remains the best read.
