IF Elfsborg — Last 6
IF Brommapojkarna — Last 6

IF Elfsborg host IF Brommapojkarna in Allsvenskan on Friday evening, 8 May 2026, with both clubs still trying to shape the first third of their league season into something more meaningful. Elfsborg, under Björn Hamberg, sit third with 11 points from their opening six, a start that keeps them in touch with the pace-setters and gives them a platform for a push higher up the table. Brommapojkarna, led by Ulf Kristiansson, are down in 10th on eight points. They’re not in trouble, but they’re not exactly cruising either.

There’s a decent edge to this one because both sides have found ways to score, and both have also spent too much time looking vulnerable at the back. Elfsborg have only lost once in six league games, while Brommapojkarna arrive off a win at Halmstads BK. The question is simple enough: can Elfsborg turn home advantage into control, or are Brommapojkarna capable of making this messy? If you like goals, this one has a proper case.

IF Elfsborg Form & Analysis

Elfsborg’s recent run has had a bit of everything. They opened this sequence with a home draw against IFK Göteborg, won away at Degerfors IF, then shared a thriller at Västerås SK before edging Djurgårdens IF at home. That was followed by a frustrating 2-1 defeat at Kalmar FF, and then another draw, 1-1 with AIK in Borås on 3 May. It’s a decent run, but not a perfect one. Not by a long way.

What stands out is that they’re rarely out of games. Even in the loss at Kalmar, they were right there until the final stages, and at home they’ve generally looked reliable. Their home record in the league reads two wins and a draw from three, with five scored and only two conceded. That’s solid. Clean, even. They’re not blowing teams away, but they’re doing enough to keep pressure on opponents and give themselves a platform.

There is, though, a slight concern around the way matches are opening up around them. Elfsborg have conceded in five of their six league games, and the recent 1-1 draw with AIK was a reminder that they can get dragged into a scrap even when they look in decent shape. The early goal from Ari Sigurpálsson against AIK should’ve settled them, but they didn’t put the game away. That’s been the theme at times: enough attacking threat to score, not quite enough control to shut the door. And against a Brommapojkarna side that’s been lively on the road, that matters.

IF Brommapojkarna Form & Analysis

Brommapojkarna’s last few weeks have been a bit wild, and that’s putting it mildly. They followed a home draw with AIK by losing at Mjällby AIF, then bounced back with a narrow away win over Örgryte IS. After that came a home defeat to Västerås SK, before they turned in one of their best performances of the season away to Halmstads BK, winning 3-1 on 4 May. That result was tidy enough on the eye, too. They had 16 shots, five on target, and four different moments in the game shifted the contest their way, even if Mads Hansen’s late red card took some gloss off it.

The broader picture is less stable. Brommapojkarna have already had enough peaks and troughs to make you wary of fully trusting them, and their results reflect that. They’ve scored in almost every game, though, and that’s the important bit here. Ten goals in six is respectable, especially for a side sitting mid-table. They don’t look like a team that will sit back and hope to nick something. They’ll have a go. That usually makes for decent viewing. It also leaves them exposed.

Their away record is the part that keeps them alive in this fixture. Two wins, one draw and one loss from four on the road, with seven scored and seven conceded, is not bad at all. There’s a bit of both teams scoring DNA in that profile. They’ve been open away from home, but they’ve also shown they can find chances against better-organised sides. You wouldn’t fancy them to control this match for long stretches, but you absolutely would expect them to threaten. That’s the danger for Elfsborg.

Head-to-Head

These two have developed a habit of producing goals when they meet. The recent history is laced with high-scoring games, and the scorelines have swung both ways. Elfsborg beat Brommapojkarna 2-1 in a friendly in March 2026, but that was a fairly gentle warm-up compared with the league meetings that came before it.

In competitive matches, the pattern has been even clearer. Brommapojkarna won 3-0 at home in August 2025, but Elfsborg responded with a wild 4-3 win in Borås in May 2025. Before that there was a 3-3 draw in Stockholm, and a couple of Elfsborg home wins that were far more comfortable. This fixture has not been shy. Eight of the last nine meetings have gone over 2.5 goals, and both teams have scored in four of the last five. That’s not a fluke. It’s a trend.

We Predict: Both Teams To Score

We’re backing Both Teams To Score at 8/11 for this one. If you want a few more angles around over 2.5 goals picks, our over 2.5 goals tips page pulls together over 2.5 goals picks with more goal-heavy matches built around the same logic. It’s the clearest angle on the board. Elfsborg have scored in all but one of their league games so far and have only kept one clean sheet, while Brommapojkarna have been involved in high-event matches all season and arrive with seven away goals already. That combination is hard to ignore.

The 1.5 to 1.1 xG projection points to a decent attacking contest, and the head-to-head history leans the same way. Elfsborg should have enough at home to get on the scoresheet, but Brommapojkarna don’t look like a side that’ll leave quietly. 2-1 to Elfsborg feels the right scoreline. If you want a small side bet, over 2.5 goals is the obvious alternative, but BTTS looks the cleaner play.
