Kocaelispor — Last 6
Fatih Karagümrük — Last 6

Kocaelispor welcome Fatih Karagümrük to the Trendyol Süper Lig on Saturday evening, 9 May 2026, with the home side sitting 10th and the visitors down in 18th. It’s a league meeting with plenty riding on it for both clubs, just at opposite ends of the table. Kocaelispor are trying to stabilise a season that has become all about frustration and near misses, while Karagümrük are fighting to pull clear of real danger. One team wants to stop drifting. The other needs points, fast.

For Kocaelispor, the bigger picture is plain enough: 37 points from 32 matches has left them in mid-table, but not in comfort. They’ve only won nine league games all season and haven’t tasted victory in seven straight. Fatih Karagümrük, meanwhile, are staring at the wrong kind of fight. Eighteenth place, 24 points, and a defence that’s leaked 53 league goals tells its own story. This is the kind of game they simply have to scrap for. Draws won’t really do.

There’s also a pattern here that should catch the eye. Kocaelispor have already met Karagümrük several times in recent seasons and those meetings have been tight, with very little separating them. That matters because this fixture has the feel of another game where neither side can fully trust the other to take control. Not a classic. But it could be a tense one.

Kocaelispor Form & Analysis

Kocaelispor’s recent run has been a slog. Their last six league matches have brought no wins at all, and the sequence has had a very familiar shape: just enough organisation to stay alive, but not enough quality to turn pressure into three points. They drew 1-1 away at Kasımpaşa on 3 May after also taking a point from Göztepe at home, Galatasaray away and Başakşehir FK at home. There was a 1-0 loss at Gençlerbirliği and the ugly outlier was the 5-0 defeat at Alanyaspor, which still hangs over the numbers like a bad smell. Three draws from their last four. No win in seven. It’s been that sort of spring.

What’s odd is that Kocaelispor haven’t been terrible at home in the broader sense. Their record at their own ground stands at 6 wins, 5 draws and 5 defeats, with 15 goals scored and 12 conceded. That’s respectable, if not exactly inspiring. They’ve usually been competitive in front of their own supporters, and the goals against figure is tidy enough. The problem is that they’ve become too easy to contain. The goalless draw with Başakşehir and the 1-1 against Göztepe are part of a wider pattern: Kocaelispor can keep themselves in matches, but they don’t often land the decisive blow.

Still, there are signs that they’re not folding. The 1-1 at Kasımpaşa came after they had already dug in against Galatasaray away and Başakşehir at home. That’s a run built on resilience rather than fluency, and the latest outing at Kasımpaşa was encouraging in one sense: they struck early through Adrian Benedyczak, with Mortadha Ben Ouanes providing the assist, and later restored parity via Dan Agyei after a Serdar Dursun assist. But the xG picture from that match was modest enough — 0.68 to 1.03 — and the shot count was lopsided. Kocaelispor need more control if they’re going to turn these scraps into wins. At the moment, they’re living too close to the edge.

Fatih Karagümrük Form & Analysis

Karagümrük arrive in worse league shape, but with a bit more spring in their step after beating Gençlerbirliği 1-0 at home on 3 May. That result ended a mixed spell that had seen them lose 2-1 to Eyüpspor, then get rolled over 3-0 at Konyaspor, before beating Çaykur Rizespor 2-1 and drawing 0-0 away at Beşiktaş. Before that there was another loss at Kayserispor. So even when they’ve won, it’s usually been narrow and nervy. They’re not a side that clears opponents away. They’re a side that hangs around.

The away numbers are the real issue and they are brutally poor. Karagümrük’s league record on the road is 1 win, 3 draws and 12 defeats, with just 12 goals scored and 31 conceded. One away win all season, and that came back on 30 August 2025 at Antalyaspor. Since then, nothing. Can they keep it up on the road? Their away form says no, not usually. They’ve been vulnerable, open and too easy to push back. Twelve defeats away from home in one league season is a lot. It’s the kind of record that makes every trip feel like a damage-limitation exercise.

Even their latest home win over Gençlerbirliği carried warning signs. The scoreline was 1-0, but the performance was messy. Karagümrük produced just 0.59 xG, while conceding 2.47. That’s not the profile of a comfortable winner. Tiago Cukur’s early goal gave them the edge and they held on, but they were helped by Gençlerbirliği missing a late penalty after VAR intervention. That tells you a fair bit about where Karagümrük are right now. They can hang on for a result. They can’t really dominate one. Away from home, especially, that lack of authority has been punished over and over.

Head-to-Head

These two have developed a habit of cancelling each other out. When they met in the league on 14 December 2025, the game finished 1-1 at Karagümrük’s ground. Earlier in 2025, they also drew 1-1 in a 1.Lig meeting, while a July friendly ended 0-0. Kocaelispor did beat Karagümrük 2-1 at home in November 2024, so there is at least one clean home win in the recent background, but the broader trend is clear enough. This fixture hasn’t produced many clear outcomes.

That ties in with the low-scoring feel of the series. Four of the last five meetings have gone under 2.5 goals, and the general mood has been cautious rather than wild. There’s no need to overcomplicate it. These sides know each other fairly well, and they’ve tended to neutralise one another. That doesn’t guarantee another draw, of course. But it does tell you not to expect a goal glut.

We Predict: Both Teams To Score

We are backing Both Teams To Score at 5/6 for this one. If you want to dig a bit deeper here, the betting guides hub pulls together all of our core football betting explainers so you can jump straight to the market or strategy you need. It’s a fair price for a game where neither defence looks especially convincing and neither attack has been convincing enough to trust fully. Kocaelispor have gone seven league matches without a win, but they’ve still managed to find the net in recent draws, while Karagümrük’s season-long away record is so flimsy that it’s hard to picture them keeping anyone out for 90 minutes.

The projected scoreline is 1-1, and that feels about right. Kocaelispor’s home record is solid enough to suggest they’ll compete, yet their attack hasn’t been sharp enough to force the issue. Karagümrük, for all their table trouble, have shown just enough in recent weeks to nick a goal even in awkward circumstances. One from each side looks the likeliest route.

If you want a slightly safer angle, under 2.5 goals is the obvious alternative given how often this pairing has stayed tight. But BTTS carries the better value here. The defences aren’t good enough to inspire confidence, and neither side has the look of a team that can keep this quiet all night.
