Levante UD — Last 6
Sevilla — Last 6

Levante UD host Sevilla at the Ciutat de València on Thursday evening in a LaLiga meeting that sits firmly in the survival scrap. Neither side can breathe easy yet, but Levante are the more exposed of the two. They begin the night 19th on 29 points, with Sevilla three places higher in 16th on 34. That gap isn’t huge. The pressure is.

There’s real weight to this one for Vicente Iborra’s side. A home win would drag Levante closer to the pack above them and give their late-season push some momentum after a decent recent spell. Sevilla, under Luis Garcia, arrive with a little more room, yet their season has been messy enough that one bad result can still drag them straight back into the mire. This is not a glamorous fixture. It’s a survival six-pointer with some bite.

The recent head-to-head record adds a bit of spice too. Levante went to Sevilla on 4 January and won 3-0, which is the sort of result that changes the mood in a dressing room. Sevilla will want revenge, but they also need points. A draw probably won’t thrill either camp. It might still be enough for the betting angle.

Levante UD Form & Analysis

Levante have at least shown some fight over the past month. They snapped back with a 1-0 home win over Getafe on 13 April, a narrow scoreline that barely tells the story. Levante were all over them. They created chance after chance, finished with 22 shots to Getafe’s five, and posted an eye-catching xG of 2.90. The only thing that kept the margin down was wastefulness, with two missed penalties thrown into the mix. That’s both encouraging and annoying. It says they can create. It also says they don’t always kill games off.

Before that, they were beaten 2-0 away to Real Sociedad, a result that fits the pattern of their season on the road. At home, though, they’ve been far more competitive. Their recent sequence also includes a 4-2 win over Real Oviedo, a 1-1 draw at Rayo Vallecano, a 1-1 draw with Girona and a 2-0 victory over Deportivo Alavés. That’s three wins, two draws and just one defeat from their last six. Not bad at all for a side in 19th. The problem is the league table still looks grim because earlier damage has been heavy.

Their home record tells a familiar story of occasional promise and too many setbacks. Levante have taken 17 points from 16 home matches, with four wins, five draws and seven defeats. They’ve scored 19 and conceded 26 at the Ciutat de València. So they’re not getting battered every week, but they’re also not making home advantage count often enough. The home crowd has seen enough goalmouth action to stay interested, though. Levante have scored in most of their recent home fixtures, and their last few results suggest they’re capable of asking questions of any defence in this range.

The flip side is that they rarely look secure at the back. Even in matches they’ve controlled, there’s usually a spell where they wobble. That’s why the low-scoring streak attached to them is a useful angle for this game. Levante have gone under 2.5 goals in five of their last six and, for all the attacking flair against Getafe, they’re still a side that often plays in tight margins. You’d expect them to compete here. You wouldn’t bank on them running away with it.

Sevilla Form & Analysis

Sevilla come into this after a morale-boosting 2-1 home win over Atlético Madrid on 11 April, and that result matters. Atlético aren’t a soft touch, and Sevilla needed something to stop the rot. They got it. The performance wasn’t flawless — they were outshot 13-11 and didn’t dominate possession in any obvious way — but they made their moments count. Akor Adams scored from the spot inside 10 minutes, Javier Boñar added a second before half-time, and Nemanja Gudelj’s late first-half goal proved enough to settle it. Efficient. That’ll do.

The bigger picture, though, is still uncomfortable. Before Atlético, Sevilla had lost three straight league matches: 1-0 away to Real Oviedo, 2-0 at home to Valencia, and 5-2 away to Barcelona. That’s a rough run, and it underlines how fragile they’ve been when the match state turns against them. Even the draws before that — 1-1 with Rayo Vallecano and 2-2 with Real Betis — felt like lost opportunities. They’re not a team in rhythm. They’re a team in patches.

Their away record explains a lot. Sevilla have won four, drawn three and lost eight of their 15 league matches on the road, scoring 18 and conceding 28. That’s not the profile of a side you trust blindly away from home. They do carry some threat, though. Eighteen away goals is hardly barren, and they’ve often found a way onto the scoresheet even in awkward matches. The issue is what happens at the other end. Too many trips end with them giving up goals. Too many.

Still, there’s enough in Sevilla’s recent behaviour to make them difficult to dismiss completely. They’ve scored in away draws at Real Betis and Barcelona, and they’ve already shown they can nick results when the game suits them. They also arrive with one of the stronger road records among the bottom-half crowd, even if that sounds faint praise. This won’t be a comfortable evening for them, but it doesn’t need to be a comfortable evening for X2 backers. They just need Sevilla to avoid defeat. That’s a much shorter ask.

Head-to-Head

Levante’s 3-0 win in Sevilla on 4 January is the standout recent meeting and it was a statement result. Sevilla didn’t see that coming. Before that, the fixture had a habit of producing closer, noisier games. Sevilla won 3-2 in a friendly in September 2020, then beat Levante 1-0 in October that year and again by the same score in April 2021. Levante have also held them to a draw in Valencia, while Sevilla edged a 3-2 league win at home in October 2021 and took another home victory in April 2022.

The broader pattern is simple enough: Sevilla have usually had the better of this matchup, but Levante are no strangers to landing a punch. That January result matters because it shows they can hurt Sevilla when the game opens up. It also means the visitors won’t arrive carefree. They’ll know exactly what happened last time. That won’t be easy to shrug off.

We Predict: Double Chance X2

Double Chance X2 at 8/15 is the play here. Sevilla aren’t trustworthy enough to be chased as outright winners away from home, but they’ve still got enough to avoid losing against a Levante side that remains 19th and has only 17 home points all season. The visitors’ away record isn’t pretty, yet it’s stronger than Levante’s numbers on their own patch suggest, and the 1-1 draw feels like the most realistic landing spot.

The recent form points the same way. Levante have improved, but they’re still a team that leaves the door open. Sevilla have just beaten Atlético Madrid and, even in defeat, they’ve been competitive enough to keep themselves in games. X2 feels safer than trying to call a winner. A 1-1 draw fits the shape of this one nicely. If you want a second angle, under 2.5 goals is also live, especially with Levante’s recent run of low-scoring matches at the heart of the argument.
