Lokomotiv Sofia — Last 6
FK Septemvri Sofia — Last 6

Lokomotiv Sofia host FK Septemvri Sofia in the First Professional League relegation round on Monday evening, 27 April 2026, with both sides still carrying plenty to play for. Lokomotiv sit 11th on 37 points, a relatively comfortable position on paper, but in a section like this there’s never much room to relax. Septemvri are down in 14th with 26 points and the pressure is heavier by the week. For them, every away trip feels like a scrap for air.

This is the sort of fixture that can swing the mood of a whole spring run-in. Lokomotiv have enough in the bank to look upward and away from danger, but they’re not exactly strolling through games. Septemvri, by contrast, need points fast. Their season has been rough, their defensive numbers are ugly, and the gap to safety can disappear only if they start turning tight performances into actual results. Monday’s game is exactly the kind of one they need to turn.

There’s also a bit of recent history to chew on. Lokomotiv beat Septemvri 3-0 on 17 March, a clean and emphatic result that came in the middle of this same league campaign. But these two have traded blows before. Septemvri won 1-0 in Sofia in August 2025, and there’s been enough back-and-forth over the last few meetings to stop anyone treating this as a foregone conclusion. Still, current form leans one way. And quite clearly.

Lokomotiv Sofia Form & Analysis

Lokomotiv’s last six league matches have been messy, entertaining and rarely dull. They opened with a 1-1 draw at home to Slavia Sofia on 13 March, then handled Septemvri 3-0 at home four days later, which looked like the kind of result that should kick-start a stronger spell. Instead, the next three away games were all lost, and all by the narrowest of margins in the scoreline: a 3-2 defeat at CSKA 1948 Sofia, a 1-0 reverse at Lokomotiv Plovdiv and then another 3-2 loss at Botev Vratsa. Only Beroe Stara Zagora at home interrupted that slide, and that 2-1 win on 9 April was useful rather than convincing.

That tells you plenty. Lokomotiv are competitive, and they’re certainly capable of scoring. They’ve hit 40 goals in the league and have already found a bit of rhythm in front of goal at home, where they’ve scored 21 and conceded 16 in 15 matches. That’s a decent platform. Not elite, not watertight, but enough to win games when they’re on it. The issue is that they’ve struggled to shut opponents out. Five straight matches without a clean sheet is a concern, and it fits what you see on the pitch: they tend to leave openings, even when they’re the better side.

The Botev Vratsa defeat summed them up nicely. Lokomotiv actually had 14 shots and five on target, and they still lost 3-2. Their xG was 1.27, which wasn’t enough to match the 2.70 they allowed at the other end. That’s the sort of game that makes you trust their attack more than their defence. Stanislav Genchev will know that if Lokomotiv want a calmer evening here, they’ll need to score first and keep the tempo on their own terms. If they let Septemvri hang around, it gets awkward. Fast.

FK Septemvri Sofia Form & Analysis

Septemvri arrive with a little more stability in the short term, but the bigger picture is bleak. Their last six league outings have brought a 0-0 home draw with Spartak Varna, a good 2-1 away win at Slavia Sofia, another goalless draw at home to Botev Vratsa, and then a painful home collapse against Arda Kardzhali, who left with a 4-1 win. Before that came the 3-0 defeat at Lokomotiv Sofia and a 1-0 loss away to Lokomotiv Plovdiv. It’s a mixed little run on the surface, but the overall pattern is hard to ignore: they don’t score enough, and when they fall behind, they’re in trouble.

Hristo Arangelov’s side have only 25 goals in the league all season. That’s a serious problem. Their away record tells the same story in sharper colours — just 11 points collected on the road, with 11 goals scored and 33 conceded. Those are relegation numbers, plain and simple. You can survive with a blunt attack if the defence is solid. Septemvri haven’t got that luxury. They’ve conceded 58 goals overall, which is the kind of figure that makes every away match feel like a long night.

Mind you, they’re not completely hopeless outside their own ground. The win at Slavia on 10 April showed they can still nick a result when things go right, and the draw at Spartak Varna last time out gave them a clean-sheet platform to build from. But there’s a catch. Their attacking ceiling is low. Even when they’re organised, they rarely look like running away with a match. That matters here because Lokomotiv at home won’t hand them much space. Septemvri will need to be disciplined, brave and a little lucky. You’d still expect them to concede chances.

Head-to-Head

Lokomotiv and Septemvri have already met several times in recent seasons, and the pattern is a bit more balanced than the league table might suggest. Lokomotiv won 3-0 in the most recent clash on 17 March 2026, but Septemvri had beaten them 1-0 at home the previous August. There’s been a 2-0 Lokomotiv away win in May 2025, a 2-1 Septemvri home victory in December 2024, and a 1-0 Lokomotiv win in August 2024. This one doesn’t come with a one-sided historical script.

That said, Lokomotiv have generally had the edge when they get control of the match. They’ve taken five of the last seven meetings in one form or another, and their ability to score first has often been the difference. Septemvri can make life awkward for them, but when Lokomotiv settle early, the contest usually opens in their favour. The March meeting was a perfect example. Septemvri never really got into it.

We Predict: Over 1.5 Goals

We’re backing Over 1.5 Goals at 2/7 here, and it feels like a very fair price for a match that should produce chances at both ends. Lokomotiv have gone five games without a clean sheet, while Septemvri’s away record is too fragile to trust for long. Even if the game starts cautiously, one goal should force the issue. Two seems well within reach.

The 2-1 Lokomotiv scoreline fits the shape of this fixture nicely. Lokomotiv’s home scoring record is solid enough, and Septemvri’s defence away from home has been leaking goals all season. Lokomotiv don’t need a thriller to land this bet, just a professional enough performance to get to two. If you want a slightly bolder angle, Both Teams to Score has some appeal too, especially with Lokomotiv’s recent habit of conceding. Still, Over 1.5 is the cleaner play.
