Malmö FF — Last 6
IK Sirius — Last 6

Malmö FF return to Allsvenskan duty on Thursday evening with IK Sirius visiting Eleda Stadion, and this one already feels bigger than a routine spring fixture. Malmö are trying to stay in touch at the top end after an unbeaten start of their own, while Sirius arrive as the early pacesetters, four places higher and still perfect after three league games. There’s a bit of pressure on both sides. Malmö need to turn a decent opening into a proper title push. Sirius need to prove this flying start isn’t just a nice little burst.

It’s early days, of course, but the stakes are clear enough. Malmö’s pedigree means they’re expected to chase trophies every season, and dropping points at home would leave them with a bit of catching up to do. Sirius, by contrast, are trying to turn a bright opening into something more durable. Can they really go to Malmö and keep that momentum rolling? That’s the question.

There’s also a bit of history here. These clubs have produced some lively Allsvenskan meetings in recent seasons, including Sirius’s 5-1 demolition of Malmö in October 2025. That result still hangs in the air. Malmö will want to answer it properly.

Malmö FF Form & Analysis

Malmö’s last few weeks have been a mixed bag on the surface, but there’s been enough resilience to keep them moving in the right direction. They opened the league season with a 1-0 home win over GAIS, then followed that with a 1-1 draw away to Örgryte IS and a 1-0 league win at Djurgårdens IF last Friday. Between those league matches, there was a 1-0 friendly win over Landskrona BoIS and a 1-1 draw with Kalmar FF, while the only real setback came in the Swedish Cup when Mjällby AIF beat them 4-0 away in mid-March. That one was ugly. The rest has been far steadier.

The most recent league win in Stockholm mattered. Malmö didn’t dominate Djurgården in possession or chances — the shot count read 19-5 against them and they generated just 0.25 xG — but they found a way, and Sead Hakšabanović’s 61st-minute goal was enough. That’s the sort of result good teams nick on awkward away days. Still, there’s a warning sign in there too. Malmö won, but they didn’t look especially dangerous. If they want to put Sirius under pressure, they’ll need more cutting edge than that.

At home, the numbers are solid rather than spectacular. Malmö have one win from one league game at Eleda Stadion, scoring three and conceding one. That’s not a huge sample, naturally, but it fits a broader pattern: they don’t look vulnerable in their own ground, yet they also aren’t blowing sides away. Their current league record reads 2 wins and 1 draw from 3, with 5 goals scored and 2 conceded, which is tidy enough, but not the kind of output that guarantees comfort against a team like Sirius. The encouraging part is that Malmö are unbeaten in five since that Cup defeat to Mjällby, and they’ve shown they can respond quickly when asked a question. They’ll need that again here.

IK Sirius Form & Analysis

Sirius arrive with far more glamour around their start to the season. Three league wins from three, nine goals scored and only one conceded — it’s the sort of opening that gets attention fast. They beat Degerfors IF 3-0 away on 4 April, saw off Hammarby IF 2-0 at home on 13 April, then ripped through Västerås SK 4-1 in their most recent outing on 18 April. Before the league got going, they were unbeaten in the cup as well, drawing 2-2 away to Hammarby, holding IFK Göteborg 0-0, and beating IF Elfsborg 2-1 away in group play. Thirteen games without defeat, if you stretch back through those results. That’s serious momentum.

The most recent home win over Västerås was especially convincing. Sirius scored early through two Isak Bjerkebo penalties, stayed aggressive, and kept piling on the pressure until the game was wrapped up. The shot count was 15-9, they had five shots on target to Västerås’s two, and they created three big chances without conceding one. That’s not just a hot streak of finishing. They’re actually making chances and defending with control. Pretty handy combination.

Their away record in the league is perfect so far too, with one win from one, three goals scored and none conceded. Again, it’s only one road match, but the clean sheet at Degerfors matters because it shows they’re not just a home bullies act. Sirius have been first to score in most of their recent runs, and that habit travels. Andreas Engelmark’s side look organised, sharp and confident. The obvious question is whether they can keep that up against a stronger opponent on the road. Malmö will be a different test.

Head-to-Head

These clubs have produced some odd results in recent seasons, and the balance hasn’t really tilted one way for long. Last October, Sirius crushed Malmö 5-1 at home, a result that will still be fresh enough in the memory to give this fixture a bit of bite. Before that, Malmö and Sirius shared a 1-1 draw in April 2025, while Sirius also won 1-0 in Malmö in July 2024. That was a nasty little away-day for the hosts.

There’s been plenty of scoring across the broader run too. Malmö beat Sirius 4-3 in July 2024, won 3-0 in July 2023, and took a 3-1 victory in August 2023, but Sirius have also shown they can land a punch, with wins in 2022 and that more recent thumping in 2025. The main theme is simple enough: these games rarely feel dull. Malmö have gone five straight meetings without a clean sheet against Sirius. That matters here.

We Predict: Both Teams To Score

We’re backing Both Teams To Score at 4/6 for this one. It’s the best fit for the shape of the match and the form of both sides. Malmö have scored in all three league games, Sirius have scored in all three league games, and both teams are carrying enough attacking rhythm to make this feel open rather than cagey. The recent head-to-head record leans the same way too, with four of the last five meetings seeing both sides net. You don’t need to overcomplicate it.

The 1-1 correct score looks the most honest call. Malmö are solid enough at home to avoid collapsing, but Sirius have been too sharp to be ignored and they’ve already shown they can travel. There’s a slight tension between Malmö’s home edge and Sirius’s perfect start, which is why a draw with goals feels right. If you wanted a smaller extra angle, Malmö to score first has some appeal given their home control — but BTTS is the cleaner play.
