Rangers — Last 6
Hibernian — Last 6

Rangers welcome Hibernian to Ibrox on Wednesday evening, 13 May 2026, in the Scottish Premiership Championship Round, with the hosts still trying to finish the season with authority and the visitors chasing a strong final impression of their own. Rangers are second in the table on 69 points, a long way clear of most of the chasing pack, but they’ve still got a point to prove after slipping to three straight defeats. Hibernian sit fifth on 51 points, safe enough in the standings yet still eager to show they can trouble one of Scotland’s biggest sides when it matters.

There’s also a familiar edge to this fixture. Rangers have had the better of the recent meetings overall, but Hibernian have thrown in the odd sting. That’s been the story of this rivalry: tight games, a few low-scoring affairs, and the occasional surprise. On paper, Rangers should be stronger at home. On the pitch, they’ve made life harder for themselves lately. Hibs will sense that.

The timing matters too. This is the Championship Round, where every result feels like a final checkpoint on the season. Rangers want to steady the ship after back-to-back setbacks against Celtic and Hearts, while Hibernian arrive off the back of a lively away win at Falkirk. One team is trying to stop a wobble. The other is trying to prove the last win wasn’t a one-off.

Rangers Form & Analysis

Rangers come into this one with a slightly battered look about them. They were beaten 3-1 at Celtic on 10 May, and the scoreline told a fairly accurate story despite a competitive first half. Mikey Moore gave them an early lift, and Yang Hyun-Jun made it 2-1, but Celtic pulled away after the break. Before that, they lost 2-1 away to Hearts, and that followed a home defeat to Motherwell in which they actually scored twice but still came out second best. Three losses in a row. That’s not the sort of run Rangers fans want to see at this point of the season.

Go back a little further and the picture changes sharply. Rangers were flying when they dismantled Falkirk 6-3 away, then beat Dundee United 4-2 at home and Aberdeen 4-1 at Ibrox. That burst of goals underlines the obvious: this side can score, and in bunches. They’ve managed 66 league goals overall, with 36 of those coming at home, and their home record reads 11 wins, five draws and just one defeat. On their own ground, they’ve conceded only 16. That’s a strong base, even if the recent run has chipped away at the aura a bit.

The problem is that Rangers haven’t looked remotely secure at the back in the last few weeks. They’ve gone six matches without a clean sheet, and that’s a nuisance when you’re trying to control games rather than chase them. Still, their Ibrox numbers are hard to ignore. They usually start on the front foot, they usually find chances, and they’ve generally been the side to score first in this fixture more often than not. If they’re sharp early, Hibernian could be dragged into a game they don’t particularly want.

Hibernian Form & Analysis

Hibernian arrive with a bit more momentum in the immediate sense. Their latest result was a 3-1 win away to Falkirk on 9 May, and it was a proper statement of intent: Josh Campbell scored twice before Jordan Obita added a third, and Hibs were in control long before the finish. Before that, they were beaten 2-1 at home by Celtic and by the same score at home to Hearts, which is a reminder that they’ve still struggled when the bigger domestic names arrive. Yet there was also a convincing 3-0 home win over Kilmarnock, plus a 0-0 draw at Motherwell and a messy away defeat to Aberdeen. So the form sheet isn’t a straight line. It’s a mixed bag.

Away from home, Hibernian’s record is respectable rather than frightening. They’ve taken five wins, six draws and six defeats on the road, scoring 21 and conceding 23. That’s a solid enough return, not a dominant one. They don’t often get rolled over away from Easter Road, but they also don’t travel with much sense of control. When they’re on the front foot, they can score. When they’re pinned back, they can be opened up. That’s the risk here.

The flip side? Hibs aren’t short of energy in attack. Their league total of 51 goals is decent, and the recent win at Falkirk showed they can be ruthless when the game breaks their way. But they’ve also gone four matches without a clean sheet, and against Rangers that’s a problem. You rarely get away with being loose at Ibrox. Not for long anyway. If David Gray’s side want something from this, they’ll need to stay compact and keep Rangers from getting the sort of early rhythm that turns Ibrox into a siege.

Head-to-Head

Recent meetings between these two have often leaned Rangers’ way, but not without a few awkward moments. The latest clash ended 0-0 at Easter Road on 1 February 2026, a reminder that Hibernian can make this fixture stubborn when they defend well and slow the tempo down. Before that, Rangers beat them 1-0 at Ibrox in December and 1-0 away in October, and they also won 2-0 in the League Cup in September. That’s three straight wins for Rangers in the more recent run of meetings before the goalless draw.

Still, Hibs have had their say in this rivalry. They won 2-0 at Ibrox in April 2025, and there were two 2-2 draws and a 3-3 draw in previous seasons. So while Rangers have the edge overall, this isn’t always a clean, comfortable afternoon for them. The one pattern that really stands out is that these games can get tight. Five of the last six meetings have finished with fewer than 2.5 goals. That’s the tension point here. Rangers may dominate possession and territory, but Hibernian have shown they can drag this fixture into a scrap.

We Predict: Home Win

We’re backing Rangers to win at 4/9 here. If you want more detail on accumulator betting, our accumulator betting guide breaks down accumulator betting including how to build combos without padding the slip. It’s short, and it’s short for a reason. Their home record is excellent, they’ve got the stronger overall squad quality, and Hibernian’s away numbers just don’t scream upset. Rangers have scored 36 at Ibrox and only lost once there all season. That’s the big anchor for the bet.

There’s a slight wrinkle, of course, because Rangers haven’t been convincing defensively lately and Hibs did score three at Falkirk last time out. That’s why a 2-1 Rangers win feels about right rather than anything more comfortable. If you want a side angle, Rangers to win and both teams to score has a bit of appeal given the recent defensive runs, but the straight home win remains the clearest call. Rangers should have enough. Hibs can make it awkward. They probably won’t stop the home side.
