Trabzonspor — Last 6
Göztepe — Last 6

Trabzonspor host Göztepe in the Trendyol Süper Lig on Saturday evening, 2 May 2026, with both sides still chasing something meaningful in the closing stretch. Trabzonspor sit third and are pressing to secure a strong finish at the top end of the table, while Göztepe’s place in sixth means they’re still fighting to protect their European push and stay in touch with the teams above them. This isn’t a throwaway fixture. There’s real pressure on both benches.

Fatih Tekke’s side come in with the sort of profile that usually keeps a crowd interested: plenty of goals, a decent home record, and a habit of scoring first. Göztepe, led by Stanimir Stoilov, have been stubborn all season and are no strangers to a scrap. They’ve picked up points away from home, they’ve scored in enough big games to be taken seriously, and they won’t turn up just to admire Trabzonspor’s badge. Still, the home side look the sharper bet here.

The broader context matters too. Trabzonspor’s season has been built on consistency rather than fireworks, with 19 wins from 31 league matches and a 58-34 goal balance that reads like a team with control and enough cutting edge. Göztepe have been good, not spectacular, and their 39 goals scored tells you they’ve often had to work hard for what they get. You’d expect a competitive game. You’d also expect goals.

Trabzonspor Form & Analysis

Trabzonspor’s recent run has been a bit of a mixed bag, even if the results still keep them in a strong position. They beat Galatasaray 2-1 at home on 4 April, which remains the standout result in this spell, then followed it with a 1-0 away win over Eyüpspor. Since then, though, they’ve drifted into a run of draws and a fresh defeat. Başakşehir came to Trabzon and left with a 1-1 draw on 19 April, Alanyaspor repeated the scoreline away from home on 11 April, and then Konyaspor edged them 2-1 in the league on 27 April. Sandwiched in there was a goalless cup tie at Samsunspor. Solid enough. Not quite sharp enough.

That last defeat in Konya was especially annoying because Trabzonspor actually created plenty. They posted 2.09 xG, sent 23 shots flying, and found themselves on the wrong side of the scoreline anyway. Berkan Kutlu scored twice and Felipe Augusto added a late goal, but the overall picture was messy. They were active, direct and dangerous, yet they still came away empty-handed. That’s the frustration with this team right now. They’re getting into areas. They’re not always finishing the job.

At home, though, Trabzonspor have been far more reliable. Their league record at this ground reads 9 wins, 5 draws and just 1 defeat, with 28 goals scored and 14 conceded. That’s a proper home base. They’ve also scored in enough of their recent games to keep the pressure on opponents, and the 58 league goals overall show a side that can hurt teams from different angles. The concern is the defensive side: 34 conceded in the league is respectable rather than elite, and if they leave space behind the full-backs, Göztepe will fancy their chances. Still, at Trabzon, Fatih Tekke’s side usually impose themselves. They don’t often look passive there.

Göztepe Form & Analysis

Göztepe arrive with a little more bounce in their step after beating Antalyaspor 2-0 at home on 25 April. They were quick out of the blocks, with Juan Santos da Silva scoring after a minute and Arda Kurtulan doubling the lead inside 22 minutes. It was a clean, efficient performance and probably their most polished showing in this recent stretch. Before that, they drew 1-1 at Kocaelispor, and prior to that they were involved in a wild 3-3 with Kasımpaşa. Those games tell the story of Göztepe’s season quite well: competitive, difficult to beat, but not always tidy enough to shut matches down.

The 3-1 home defeat to Galatasaray on 8 April is the outlier in their recent spell, but even there they didn’t roll over. They also won 2-0 away at Gençlerbirliği on 4 April and drew 2-2 with Alanyaspor earlier in March. That’s a decent spread of results. They’re not cruising through games, but they’re not collapsing either. Stoilov has them organised enough to hang around in matches, and the 51 points they’ve collected says this isn’t a side simply making up the numbers in the top half.

Away from home, Göztepe’s league record is decent rather than dominant: 6 wins, 5 draws and 4 defeats, with 17 goals scored and 14 conceded. That balance suggests a team that travels reasonably well without blowing opponents away. The lack of goals on the road is the obvious issue. Seventeen away goals across the league campaign won’t scare Trabzonspor, and if Göztepe spend too long without the ball, they may find themselves defending deep for long spells. Mind you, they’ve scored in enough away fixtures to make life awkward, and that’s the key point here. They don’t need to be brilliant to land a punch.

Head-to-Head

This fixture has had a bit of everything, and the recent meetings suggest Göztepe are rarely bullied for long. Trabzonspor won 2-1 in İzmir on 7 December 2025, which keeps their overall recent edge intact, but that was a tight affair rather than a one-sided one. Earlier in 2025, Trabzonspor beat Göztepe 2-0 in the cup and the league meeting in Trabzon finished 1-1. So there’s no pattern of easy home wins here. None at all.

The broader head-to-head picture points towards a contest where both sides usually find some joy. Göztepe have gone nine straight meetings without a clean sheet against Trabzonspor, and both teams have scored in four of the last five between them. That’s the kind of trend you can actually trust. It won’t win you any beauty contests, but it’s useful. The fixture has also tended to stay fairly controlled on the corners front, which fits the feel of these games more than a wide-open shootout.

We Predict: Both Teams to Score

We’re backing Both Teams To Score at 8/11 here, and it looks the strongest angle on the board. If the bookmaker side matters for this angle too, our Bet365 early payout page covers Bet365 early payout rules if you want the details behind that feature. Trabzonspor’s home record is strong enough to suggest they’ll get on the scoresheet, but they’ve also been conceding regularly enough to keep the door open. Göztepe, for their part, have scored in enough of their recent league matches to believe they can nick one, especially with Trabzonspor having shipped 34 in the league and conceded 14 at home. This has the look of a game where both keep finding a way through.

The 2-1 scoreline fits neatly. Trabzonspor have the stronger overall profile, the better home numbers, and the sharper attack, but Göztepe’s away resilience means they shouldn’t be written off. Still, the home side should edge it. If you want a fallback angle, Trabzonspor to win and both teams to score has appeal too. It’s a cleaner read than overthinking the totals.
