Vejle — Last 6
Silkeborg IF — Last 6

Vejle host Silkeborg IF in the Danish Superliga relegation round on Wednesday evening, 22 April 2026, with both clubs still feeling the pressure of a closing-stage scrap that can turn ugly in a hurry. For Vejle, every point matters in the fight to drag themselves clear of danger. For Silkeborg, there’s still plenty on the line too, with pride, momentum and a healthier position in the mini-league all at stake as the season winds down.

This is the sort of fixture that can swing on a moment of nerve. Vejle come in under Claus Norgaard without a league win in a long while, while Kent Nielsen’s Silkeborg have had a far more varied spring, mixing heavy defeats with sharp attacking spells and enough resilience to keep them afloat in this group. Both sides know what a victory would do for the mood around the place. Neither can really afford another flat night.

Their meeting in Silkeborg on 16 March finished 1-1, and that result sits neatly inside a wider pattern that suggests another tight, open contest. Vejle have struggled badly to keep clean sheets, Silkeborg have been involved in plenty of games with goals at both ends, and the history between them has leaned toward BTTS far more often than not. That’s the lens for this one. Goals at both ends looks the natural angle.

Vejle Form & Analysis

Vejle’s latest run has been grim from a results point of view. They were beaten 4-1 at home by FC København on 19 April, and that followed a frustrating sequence in which they kept hanging around games without quite getting over the line. Before that loss, they drew 2-2 away to FC Fredericia on 13 April, after home draws with Randers FC and Odense Boldklub, both ending 1-1. Go back a little further and the shape barely changes. They drew 1-1 away at Silkeborg on 16 March, then lost 2-1 at home to AGF on 1 March. It’s been the story of their season, really. Competitive enough to make life awkward, not ruthless enough to turn pressure into wins.

That København defeat was the clearest illustration of the problem. Vejle weren’t completely cut off from the game — their xG of 1.14 wasn’t disastrous — but they were simply too loose without the ball and too easy to play through at times. They gave up 17 shots, eight on target, and 2.17 expected goals. When your back line is under that sort of stress, conceding four isn’t much of a surprise. They did create two big chances themselves, so this isn’t a side that’s totally toothless. The issue is what happens at the other end. They keep giving opponents a route back into matches. They keep conceding first. That hurts.

The broader picture is even harsher. Vejle haven’t won in nine games, and they’ve also gone 13 straight matches without a clean sheet. That’s a brutal combination. You can see why this market leans toward goals rather than control. At home, they’ve tended to play in open territory, with enough attacking intent to score but not enough defensive security to shut the door. They’ve also been involved in a remarkable run of games where both teams have scored, which is exactly the sort of pattern punters notice before the market does. Three wins from many weeks? Not good enough. They need a bit of steel, and right now it’s missing.

Silkeborg IF Form & Analysis

Silkeborg arrive with a more uneven recent record, but they’ve at least shown they can produce something at the right end of the pitch. Their last six reads like a side that can look excellent one week and vulnerable the next. They drew 2-2 at home to FC Fredericia on 19 April, having beaten Odense Boldklub 3-1 at home on 12 April. Before that came the horror show: a 7-0 loss away to FC København on 5 April. That was ugly, no way around it. Yet they recovered in style with a 3-0 away win at Randers on 22 March, then played out a 1-1 home draw with Vejle on 16 March, and earlier slipped to a 2-1 defeat away to FC Fredericia on 1 March.

That’s a proper rollercoaster. One minute they’re getting torn apart in Copenhagen, the next they’re winning away from home with authority and scoring three or more in consecutive matches. That attacking variability matters here, because Silkeborg don’t need to dominate the ball for long spells to hurt Vejle. The 2-2 with Fredericia on Sunday was a good example. Silkeborg posted 2.09 xG, created three big chances and had enough volume to feel a little aggrieved not to win it, even though they also allowed 1.16 xGA and were forced to chase late. The firepower is there. The defensive stability? Not always.

Away from home, Silkeborg’s record in this spell has had a strange edge to it. They were demolished by København, sure, but they also went to Randers and won 3-0, which tells you they’re capable of turning a road trip into something productive. That’s why this isn’t a team you want to write off just because of one bad afternoon. Still, they’ve gone three matches without a clean sheet, and they’ve been involved in enough loose, end-to-end games to make BTTS look very live again. If they concede first here, you wouldn’t be shocked. If they score first, you’d still expect Vejle to keep coming. That’s the problem for both defences.

Head-to-Head

These two have already met several times across recent Superliga campaigns, and the pattern is hard to ignore. Their last eight league meetings include a 1-1 draw in Silkeborg on 16 March, Silkeborg’s 2-1 win in Vejle last October, another 1-1 in Silkeborg in September, and a 1-1 draw there in May 2025. There was also Silkeborg’s 4-0 win in Vejle in April 2025, while Vejle have managed the odd upset, including a 1-0 away win in February 2025 and a 2-0 home victory back in February 2024.

The overall feel is simple enough: Silkeborg have usually had the better of this pairing, but the meetings haven’t been cagey. Four of the last five have seen both teams score, and Vejle have repeatedly failed to keep Silkeborg quiet for very long. That history matters. It gives the BTTS call another layer of support.

We Predict: Both Teams To Score

We’re backing Both Teams To Score at 4/7 here, and it looks a fair price for a game that should have chances at both ends. Vejle have gone 13 league matches without a clean sheet, they’ve been involved in a relentless run of BTTS outcomes, and Silkeborg have scored in most of their recent games while still looking vulnerable when pressed. You don’t need to overcomplicate this one. Both sides have too many defensive holes for a clean, controlled evening.

The scoreline leans 2-1 to Vejle, which fits the projected xG of 1.9 to 1.4 and also respects the fact that Silkeborg usually find a way to nick one in this matchup. A 1-1 draw wouldn’t surprise anyone, mind you, but Vejle’s home edge and Silkeborg’s habit of giving chances away tilt the nod toward the hosts just enough. If you wanted a slightly more cautious route, over 2.5 goals is never far away in a fixture like this, though BTTS remains the cleaner play.
