Villarreal — Last 6
Levante UD — Last 6

Villarreal welcome Levante UD to the Estadio de la Cerámica on Saturday afternoon with very different objectives, and very different levels of pressure. Marcelino’s side are pushing to cement a place near the top end of LaLiga after a strong season that has them third on 65 points, while Levante are fighting to drag themselves clear of danger from 19th. One side is chasing Europe and a finish worth shouting about. The other is trying to stop the season from slipping away.

The table gives the game its edge, but the contrast in home and away numbers sharpens it further. Villarreal have been excellent in their own stadium, losing only twice all season at home and conceding just 14 goals there. Levante, by contrast, have taken only 13 points from 16 away matches and have scored 16 times on the road. That’s a big gap. A very big gap. You’d expect the hosts to control this, though Levante’s recent grind means they won’t just roll over.

Villarreal Form & Analysis

Villarreal arrive in decent shape, even if they’ve not been flawless. Their last six league matches tell the story of a side that’s usually found a way, even when it hasn’t been straightforward. They edged Celta Vigo 2-1 at home on 26 April, going ahead early through Gerard Moreno’s penalty before Nicolas Pépé added another and they then had to ride out late pressure after Borja Iglesias pulled one back. Before that came a 1-1 draw at Real Oviedo, a result that wasn’t ideal but at least kept them steady. They also took a 1-0 win away to Athletic Club, one of those tidy away performances that can anchor a good run.

The only real blemish in that stretch was the 1-0 defeat at Girona on 6 April. Since then, they’ve looked much more like themselves. The 3-1 home win over Real Sociedad was the kind of result that underlines their attacking level, and the 1-1 draw at Alavés before that was another away point from a difficult venue. Three games unbeaten coming into this one. That matters. It’s not a crazy hot streak, but it’s solid, controlled and entirely in keeping with a team sitting third in the table.

Their home numbers are even stronger. Villarreal have won 13, drawn one and lost only two at home, scoring 36 and conceding 14. That’s the profile of a side that usually gets its way on its own pitch. They’re not just grinding out results either. They’ve got the kind of attacking output that gives them a chance to win in different ways, whether it’s a fast start, a spell of pressure after half-time, or a late push when games are level. The only concern is that they’ve gone nine league matches without keeping a clean sheet, so there’s almost always a door left open at the back. That won’t go unnoticed by Levante, who’ll fancy at least a sniff.

Marcelino will know exactly what sort of game this can become if Villarreal let Levante hang around. Control possession, move the ball quickly, and force the visitors into a deep block. If they do that, the home record suggests they should eventually break through. Still, there’s no room for complacency. Villarreal have made a habit of conceding one even when they’re winning, and that keeps matches closer than the league table would like. That’s the tension here.

Levante UD Form & Analysis

Levante’s recent form is more stubborn than glamorous. Their last six league matches have brought two wins, three draws and a defeat, which is respectable enough given where they sit, but the context matters. A 0-0 draw at Espanyol on 27 April was a hard-earned point, and it followed a 2-0 home win over Sevilla and a 1-0 home victory against Getafe. Those are proper results for a side trying to survive. They’ve shown they can shut teams down and nick games when the chance comes.

The flip side is that their away form keeps holding them back. They lost 2-0 at Real Sociedad on 4 April, and that was another reminder that life on the road is tougher for them. Before that, they beat Real Oviedo 4-2 at home in a game that opened up badly and then swung their way, but the pattern is clear enough. Levante can compete at home. Away from it, they’re far less convincing. Three wins, four draws and nine defeats from 16 away matches is a relegation-level return, no matter how you dress it up.

They’ve scored 16 away goals and conceded 24, which paints a neat picture. They’re not completely toothless, but they don’t land enough punches to survive long spells under pressure. The positive is that they’ve been harder to break down in some of the tighter recent games, as the 0-0 at Espanyol showed, and the 2-0 win over Sevilla suggests they can spring a surprise when the game state works for them. But can they do it at Villarreal? That’s a different ask entirely.

Luís Castro’s side will likely lean on structure, discipline and patience. They’ve got to. Open this up and the gap in quality should start to show. Levante have not been getting battered every week, which is why this isn’t an automatic home stroll, but they do lack the away resilience to trust fully. One goal against Villarreal would keep them alive. Two would be a surprise. If they concede first, the task gets steep in a hurry.

Head-to-Head

Recent meetings lean Villarreal’s way, and that matters when you’re trying to work out who carries the psychological edge. In the reverse league fixture on 18 February 2026, Villarreal won 1-0 at Levante. That’s the most recent marker between the clubs, and it fits the broader pattern of Villarreal usually having the edge when these two cross paths.

Go back a little further and you find more convincing Villarreal wins, including a 5-0 home victory in January 2022 and a 5-1 away success in April 2021. Levante have had the odd response of their own, including a 2-0 win at home in April 2022, so this isn’t a one-way street forever. But the latest league meeting was tight and the overall mood favours the hosts. Villarreal have tended to get the better of Levante when the stakes are real.

We Predict: Home Win

We’re backing Villarreal to win at 8/11 for this one. For more context beyond this pick, see our football tips hub, which pulls together our main football tips hub with singles, goals picks and combo angles in one place. It’s not a flashy price, but it’s the right side of the line. Villarreal are third in LaLiga, they’ve won 13 of their 16 home matches, and they’re up against a Levante side that’s picked up only three away wins all season. That mismatch is hard to ignore. Hard to ignore and hard to argue with.

The other factor is the way Villarreal have been finding results lately without needing to be perfect. They’ve scored in each of their last six league matches, they’ve won three of the last four, and Levante’s away return just doesn’t scream upset. A 2-1 home win looks the most likely scoreline, mainly because Villarreal’s clean-sheet issue is real and Levante have enough to nick one if the game stretches. If you want a slightly safer angle, Villarreal to score first has plenty of appeal too.
