Al-Ittihad — Last 6
Al-Qadsiah — Last 6

Al-Ittihad welcome Al-Qadsiah to Jeddah on Thursday evening, 21 May 2026, in a Saudi Pro League meeting that carries real weight at the sharp end of the table. Al-Ittihad sit fifth with 55 points and are trying to salvage something tangible from a season that’s been decent without being dominant. Al-Qadsiah arrive in fourth on 74 points, comfortably ahead of the chasing pack and with a much stronger overall campaign behind them. One side is chasing pride and position. The other is trying to hold its place among the league’s elite.

There’s also a bit of tension in the matchup itself. Al-Ittihad have the crowd, the home record and the edge that comes from playing at their own ground, but Al-Qadsiah have been the more reliable side all season and come in unbeaten in six league games. Brendan Rodgers’ team have put together the kind of run that makes you believe they won’t be overawed by a trip like this. Sérgio Conceição’s men, by contrast, have been lively but not clean enough at the back. That usually matters against a top-four opponent. It could matter here too.

Al-Ittihad Form & Analysis

Al-Ittihad’s recent league run has had a bit of everything. They went to Al-Taawoun on 29 April and came away with a tidy 2-0 win, the sort of result that hinted at control and discipline. Back home against Al-Kholood on 4 May, though, they were held to a goalless draw and didn’t look particularly sharp in the final third. Then came a narrow 2-1 win over Damac FC on 10 May, followed by a more convincing 3-1 away success at Al-Ettifaq on 14 May. That should have settled nerves. It didn’t last long. They were beaten 3-2 by Al-Shabab on 17 May in a game that turned into a scramble, and the last ten minutes only sharpened the sense that this team are living a little too close to the edge.

That Al-Shabab defeat summed up a lot of what Al-Ittihad have been this season: capable of scoring, capable of creating chances, but far too open when the pressure rises. Their overall league record is solid enough — 16 wins, 7 draws and 10 defeats — but the 54 goals scored and 43 conceded tell the fuller story. At home they’ve been decent rather than formidable: 10 wins, 1 draw and 5 losses, with 21 goals scored and 16 conceded. That’s a respectable return, yet not the kind that screams certainty against a side in the top four. Five home wins, yes. Five home clean sheets? No chance. They’ve been breached too often.

The wider pattern is pretty clear. Al-Ittihad can still find ways to score, especially when Yannick Carrasco and Houssem Aouar get on the ball and start connecting the play, but the back line has been too easy to unsettle. Even in their better results, there’s usually a moment or two when they give you the feeling that the next chance will be against them. That won’t go down well against Al-Qadsiah, who don’t need many invitations. Conceição’s side will be keen to start fast, because if they’re dragged into a longer tactical battle, the advantage begins to tilt away from them.

Al-Qadsiah Form & Analysis

Al-Qadsiah have been moving like a team with purpose. Their last six league matches include four straight wins, then two draws, and there’s nothing flimsy about that run. They beat Damac FC 1-1? No, that was earlier in April and finished 1-1 away. More recently they came from a strong position to draw 2-2 with Al-Shabab on 14 April, then followed with a 1-1 at Damac on 9 April. Since then, though, they’ve tightened right up and started putting teams away. A 4-0 demolition of Al-Riyadh on 29 April was the loudest statement. Then came a 3-1 home win over Al-Nassr on 3 May, a 2-1 away success at Al-Fayha on 9 May, and a controlled 2-0 victory over Al-Hazem on 14 May.

That’s the profile of a side who know what they’re doing. They’re third in the away table as well, with 11 wins, 2 draws and just 3 defeats on the road, plus 38 goals scored and only 20 conceded. That’s elite away form by any standard. Their overall league record is even stronger: 22 wins, 8 draws and 3 losses, with 78 goals scored and only 33 shipped. Those are title-chasing numbers, even if the table now says fourth. They create chances, they finish enough of them, and they don’t give opponents much room to breathe. At this level, that combination is hard to ignore.

Brendan Rodgers has them looking efficient rather than flashy. There’s a steadiness to their work, and they’ve got enough attacking quality to punish lapses. The 2-0 win over Al-Hazem was a clean, grown-up performance: 11 shots, 6 on target, four big chances created, and almost nothing conceded at the other end. Before that, beating Al-Nassr 3-1 would have done a lot for belief. Can they keep that momentum going on a tricky away day? They’ve done it all season. The answer, more often than not, has been yes.

Head-to-Head

This fixture has a strong habit of producing goals, and that’s one reason it keeps drawing attention. Al-Qadsiah beat Al-Ittihad 2-1 in Riyadh on 22 January 2026, which will still be fresh in both dressing rooms. Before that, the two sides shared a 1-1 draw in March 2025, while Al-Ittihad won 3-1 at home in the league in October 2024 and again beat Al-Qadsiah 3-1 in the King’s Cup in May 2025.

The longer trend is fairly clear too. Al-Ittihad have usually found a way to score in this matchup, but they haven’t had it all their own way, and Al-Qadsiah’s recent edge in January matters. There’s been no shortage of attacking moments when these sides meet. You’d expect chances again.

We Predict: Double Chance X2

We’re backing Double Chance X2 at 8/15 for this one. Al-Qadsiah are the better-balanced team, they’re higher in the table, and they’ve been far more convincing on the road, where 11 wins from 16 league matches is simply excellent. Al-Ittihad can certainly nick a goal at home, but their defensive record is too soft to trust them against a side this efficient. The away side don’t need to dominate possession to get a result here. They just need to stay organised and take their moments.

The 1-1 correct score looks the neatest call. Al-Ittihad should find a way through at some point, especially given the home crowd and the fact that this fixture has tended to open up, but Al-Qadsiah’s form and structure make an away win or draw the likelier outcome. If you want a more aggressive angle, Al-Qadsiah draw no bet would be the cleaner option, but X2 gives you the safety net that fits the matchup best.
