Annecy FC — Last 6
Pau FC — Last 6

Annecy FC host Pau FC in a Ligue 2 meeting on Friday evening, 24 April 2026, and both sides arrive with plenty still on the line. This isn’t a glamorous title race, but it matters just as much in its own way. Annecy sit 8th on 46 points, Pau are only one point behind in 9th, and a win for either side would tighten the chase around the top half and keep the pressure on the clubs above them. Small margins, late season, no room for passengers.

There’s a bit of shape to this contest too. Annecy have been sturdy at home all season and have only lost three league games at their own ground. Pau, on the other hand, are one of Ligue 2’s better travellers, sitting 4th in the away table with seven wins from 15 on the road. So this isn’t just eighth against ninth. It’s a decent home side against a pretty dangerous away one. That’s why this feels live.

The background form adds a bit more spice. Annecy thumped Nancy 5-1 away last time out, while Pau beat Guingamp 2-1 at home. Both have arrived in good enough shape to fancy their chances. Still, there are cracks in both cases. Annecy can be loose away from home, and Pau’s defensive numbers are nowhere near as clean as their away ranking suggests. You’d expect goals here. The only question is how many.

Annecy FC Form & Analysis

Annecy’s last few weeks have been a proper mixed bag, and that’s putting it mildly. They were hammered 4-0 at Saint-Étienne on 21 March, then lost 2-1 at home to Troyes and went down 3-0 at Le Mans. That was a rough spell. Three straight defeats, no goals in two of them, and plenty of questions about whether the season was drifting away from them.

Since then, Laurent Guyot’s side have steadied themselves. They held Montpellier to a 0-0 draw at home on 10 April, edged Guingamp 1-0 at their own ground on 3 April, then exploded at Nancy with a 5-1 win on 17 April. That latest result was a statement. Annecy didn’t just nick it; they tore into Nancy, created five big chances and kept pressing until the end. Dion Moise Sahi, Clement Billemaz, Martin Expérience and Antoine Larose all got in on the act. When they click, they can really hurt teams.

The home record is where Annecy have built their season. Six wins, six draws and only three losses at this ground is a solid base, and 20 goals scored against 13 conceded tells you they’ve generally controlled games here. They’re not a wild, all-action side, but they’re hard to break down when they settle into their rhythm. That’s the key point. At home, they don’t hand over much. Away from home they’ve been far shakier, but in front of their own crowd they’ve usually looked organised and competitive.

There’s a decent streak to lean on too: Annecy are unbeaten in three, and they’ve won their last match. That doesn’t sound seismic, but after the wobble they had through March, it matters. They’ve also shown they can keep things tight when needed — the goalless draw with Montpellier and the 1-0 win over Guingamp were both built on control rather than chaos. The flip side? They’ve still only kept one clean sheet in that short run, and if they concede first, they’ve got to chase the game rather than manage it. That’s not always their comfort zone.

Pau FC Form & Analysis

Pau’s recent story is a bit more erratic, but there’s real threat in it. They beat Clermont Foot 1-0 away on 13 March, drew 0-0 with Montpellier at home a week later, then collapsed at Le Mans in a 4-0 away defeat on 6 April. That loss looked ugly. Four goals shipped, no response, and a reminder that their away form can be fragile when things go wrong.

They’ve recovered well since. Pau drew 2-2 with Bastia at home on 6 March in a game that had a bit of everything, then went to Amiens SC on 10 April and won 1-0, and followed that with a 2-1 home victory over Guingamp on 17 April. Those are useful results. Not flashy, but effective. Thierry Debes will like the fact that his side kept going at Amiens and found a late winner against Guingamp through Kyliane Dong in stoppage time. That sort of edge is exactly what keeps teams in the top half mix.

Away from home, Pau have been genuinely impressive over the season as a whole. Seven wins, four draws and only four defeats from 15 trips is a strong return, and 22 goals scored on the road is a healthy total. The problem is that they’ve also conceded 24 away, which is a lot for a team with a top-four away ranking. In plain English: they travel well, but they’re not watertight. If the game turns open, they’re perfectly capable of scoring. They’re also perfectly capable of giving something back.

That tension is what makes Pau such a tricky side to read. They’ve got enough attacking punch to land a punch of their own — Louis Mafouta and Kyliane Dong have both been involved in decisive moments lately — but they don’t suffocate opponents. They let matches breathe. Against a home side like Annecy, that can be dangerous. One goal rarely feels enough with Pau. They usually need another.

Head-to-Head

The recent meetings between these sides point in a fairly clear direction, and not a flattering one for Annecy. Pau beat them 2-0 on 9 August 2025 and followed that with a 1-0 win on 28 March 2025. Before that, Annecy managed a 2-0 home win in November 2024, but even that sits inside a wider run where Pau have often had the upper hand.

Go back a little further and the pattern gets mixed, though not chaotic. Annecy won 3-0 at Pau in September 2023, while the teams also drew 0-0 in Annecy in January 2024 and 2-2 in Pau in January 2023. There’s no domination either way, but the latest pair of meetings do tilt Pau’s way. That matters. Recent memory tends to linger in fixtures like this.

We Predict: Both Teams To Score

We’re backing Both Teams To Score at 8/11 for this one. It’s the cleanest angle on offer. Annecy have been strong at home, Pau have been strong away, and neither defensive record gives off the sort of confidence that says one side will shut the other out for 90 minutes. Annecy have scored 20 at home and conceded 13, while Pau’s away figures are 22 scored and 24 conceded. That’s BTTS territory all day long.

The projected xG also leans that way, with Annecy at 1.5 and Pau at 1.2, and a 2-1 home win feels like the most natural scoreline. Annecy’s recent 5-1 win at Nancy showed they can open teams up, while Pau have already shown enough away bite to get on the board here. If you want a different route, over 2.5 goals deserves a look too. But BTTS is the stronger shout.
