FC Eindhoven — Last 6
Helmond Sport — Last 6

FC Eindhoven host Helmond Sport on Friday evening in the Eerste Divisie, with both sides looking to finish the season on a stronger note than their league positions might suggest. Eindhoven are 12th on 44 points, Helmond sit 17th on 39, and neither club is in danger of a title run, but there’s still plenty riding on this one. For Jan Poortvliet’s side, a top-half push is still there in theory. For Jürgen Seegers’ men, it’s more about building a bit of distance from the wrong end and salvaging some pride.

There’s also a clear betting angle to this fixture. Eindhoven have been involved in goals all season, especially at home, while Helmond’s away record is poor enough to encourage belief that the hosts can do their share of the scoring. The numbers around this game point in one direction. Goals. And probably plenty of them.

FC Eindhoven Form & Analysis

FC Eindhoven arrive here with more questions than answers after a tricky run. Their last six league games tell a messy story: a 1-0 home win over FC Emmen on 28 March offered some comfort, but it’s been patchy ever since. A 2-2 draw with De Graafschap followed at home, then came a 3-1 defeat to Roda JC Kerkrade, a heavy 4-0 loss at ADO Den Haag, and last Friday’s 3-0 reverse away to Jong FC Utrecht. That’s four matches without a win, and the mood has clearly shifted from cautious optimism to frustration.

The annoying part for Eindhoven is that they haven’t been lacking in attacking intent. At Jong FC Utrecht, they actually produced a healthy volume of shots and got into dangerous areas, but the game got away from them early and then completely slipped after the break. That’s been the issue in a few of their recent outings: they can create enough to stay in games, then leave the back door open. Jan Poortvliet won’t need telling that a side conceding three in Amsterdam, three at home to Roda and four at ADO is making life far too easy for opponents. That won’t wash for long.

At their own ground, though, Eindhoven are a different proposition. Their home record reads eight wins, three draws and seven defeats, with 32 goals scored and 30 conceded. That’s not a fortress, but it is a lively venue. They’re averaging just under two goals scored per home league game and nearly conceding the same number. A bit loose? Absolutely. But it also means their matches tend to open up, and that’s exactly the sort of profile that keeps over-goals punters interested. One especially awkward streak for them is the lack of clean sheets. They’ve gone four without one, and if they don’t tighten up here, Helmond will get chances.

Helmond Sport Form & Analysis

Helmond Sport come into this on the back of a much-needed 2-0 home win over VVV-Venlo, a result that should give Jürgen Seegers a bit of relief after a run of stumbles. Before that, they had drawn 0-0 away at MVV Maastricht, been held 2-2 by RKC Waalwijk, and picked up a 1-1 draw at Roda JC Kerkrade. Sandwiched in there was a 2-0 defeat at Jong AZ Alkmaar and a narrow 1-0 loss at home to SC Cambuur. It’s been a stop-start spell, but the point return hasn’t been disastrous. Three games unbeaten on the road, then. Not flashy, but not bad.

What stands out with Helmond is the contrast between their home and away returns. They’ve shown a little more bite in front of their own supporters, but away from home they’ve been blunt. Their league away record is a grim-looking two wins, four draws and twelve defeats, with just 11 goals scored and 33 conceded. That’s the sort of away profile opponents love to see. You don’t need to overthink it. If you’re FC Eindhoven, you know chances will come.

Still, Helmond aren’t coming here completely empty-handed. That 0-0 at MVV and the draw at Roda suggest they can stay in games if the structure holds. The win over VVV was a useful reminder too. Their 2-0 success was built on patience, with both goals arriving late through Labinot Bajrami and Noah Makanza. They’ve also been involved in a fair number of tight, low-margin results overall, which is the one thing that slightly tempers the appetite for wild scoring. Mind you, that away record is still the big red flag. They’ve conceded 33 in 18 away matches. You don’t need a microscope to spot the problem.

Head-to-Head

These two know each other well, and the recent meetings have usually gone the way of the home side or the team with a sharper edge on the day. Helmond beat Eindhoven 1-0 in September 2025, but the match at FC Eindhoven in March 2025 finished 2-2, and Eindhoven produced one of the better results in the run with a 4-3 away win in November 2024. That one was a proper end-to-end chaos job. No one was pretending otherwise.

The broader pattern leans slightly toward Helmond in the recent head-to-head, but not by much, and not in a way that changes the feel of this one. Five of the last eight meetings have seen both teams score, and the fixture has often carried a bit of needle and unpredictability. The clearest trend? Neither side has been shy about taking the game to the other. This usually isn’t a nap.

We Predict: Over 2.5 Goals

We are backing Over 2.5 Goals at 4/6 for this one, and it feels like the cleanest angle on the board. Eindhoven’s home games are regularly open, Helmond’s away record is shaky, and both clubs have spent large parts of the season defending too loosely to inspire confidence in a tight, attritional contest. A 2-1 home win fits the shape of it nicely.

The xG projection lands at 1.8 to 1.1 in Eindhoven’s favour, which lines up with a game where the hosts do most of the attacking but Helmond still nick something along the way. Eindhoven have also been involved in nine over-2.5 results in their last ten, which is hard to ignore. If you want a little more scope, Eindhoven to win and both teams to score is the sort of alternative that’d make sense too. But the main call is goals. Three or more looks the likeliest outcome.
